Manager, Procurement & Inventory – Woodbridge

 

Position:                                            Manager, Procurement & Inventory

Reports To:                                        Supply Chain Manager

Location:                                            Woodbridge (Vaughan), Ontario

 

Summary  

This is a temporary hands-on management level position up to 12 months duration, to start with  located in our Woodbridge Manufacturing Facility. The successful individual in this position will be responsible for managing employees in the Procurement, Receiving, Warehousing and Inventory Control departments; working with other Production Group Managers, as well as Operations Management in developing and maintaining goals and KPI’s; implementing processes related to these functions, developing a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring all safety requirements are met.

The ideal candidate will have acquired prior knowledge of the window and door industry and have proven leadership experience in all facets of procurement, logistics, inventory management, supply chain management, material handling, continuous improvement/LEAN Manufacturing principles and EH&S.

The person will be a team player with strong communications, coaching and mentoring skills with an ability to work with a variety of departments to resolve issues and strive for world class results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead departmental personnel in the execution of daily plans with a singular focus on maximizing the customer experience;
  • Maintain and develop the necessary procurement and inventory planning, control and reporting processes to ensure optimized supply chain management objectives are achieved;
  • Manage all receiving, storage, order picking and material handling processes;
  • Develop world-class  supply chain channels with all key suppliers with a particular focus on off-shore/long-lead time channels;
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers
  • Leverage relevant KPIs to monitor the department and team performance and to hold them accountable;
  • Strong knowledge of US cross-border logistics and customs processes and applicable paperwork;
  • In conjunction with Operations Management Team, develop and adhere to operational and inventory expenditure budgets;
  • Drive a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement;
  • Willing to roll-up your sleeves, work alongside the team and lead by example;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in Procurement / Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations or similar with proven experience in Supply Chain Management, Procurement Management and Inventory Management roles;
  • A prior track record of success developing sustainable processes and policies to maintain organization, consistency, predictability and visibility within the relevant environment;
  • Excellent SCM solutioning process optimization abilities;
  • Superior negotiating and remediation skills;
  • In-depth knowledge and use of continuous improvement programs such as LEAN, Six Sigma, ISO, etc.;
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation communications skills;
  • Exceptional relationship building acumen;
  • Solid understanding of motorized material handling equipment management and operations would be considered a valuable asset;
  • Advanced MS Office applications abilities including Excel and Access + working knowledge of current ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle or MS Nav + popular warehouse management platforms;
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic, customer-centric environment.
