Toronto IT Support Tech – Toronto (Vaughan, Ontario)


Under the supervision of the Plant Technology Manager, the Toronto IT Support Tech is responsible for maintaining and supporting all computer Systems, The Network Infrastructure, and the ERP System.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners
  • Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks
  • Responding in a timely manner to service issues and requests
  • Using The Service Now Platform to document all user tickets and bring them to resolution
  • Setting up accounts for new users, including the deployment of equipment and the IT setup of the new user’s workstation
  • Documenting how machines work and providing training to employees
  • Improving automation levels of equipment to improve productivity.
  • Troubleshooting equipment or network problems to ensure efficiency operation of equipment
  • Designing improvements to network infrastructure
  • Actively searching for new technology that can add value to the business.
  • Must be on call and come in during evenings when required (generally Infrequent, and only when the impact is critical)





Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree or Diploma in computer science, information technology, computer programming, network administration, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of a wide range of software and hardware products including how to do windows installations and Computer Backups/Restores.
  • Experience with remote desktop applications and Help Desk Software.
  • Influencing skills to interact and liaise with both the local plant teams and corporate is essential. 
  • Proficient in MS Office Programs (Word, Excel) and adapt quickly to other support systems (ERP, data mining, optimizers). 
  • Experience in a manufacturing facility involving Continuous Improvement methodologies strongly desired.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written and communication skills.
  • The ability to thrive in a constantly changing and complex environment and consistently meet tight timelines.
  • Must possess fundamental product technical aptitude and knowledge, analytical skills, and be detail oriented.  
  • Must possess the ability to work well in a team environment as well as under minimal supervision.
