JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Manager Health & Safety to join our growing team.
External Job Description
The Plant Safety Manager will lead the site environmental, health and safety program. They will assist site leadership with establishing site specific policies and standards to ensure compliance with regulatory and JELD-WEN Global EHS requirements, and create a strong EHS culture.
Job Description:
- Develop and/or aid in the development and implementation of policies and operating procedures to minimize accidents and related costs and comply with legislation.
- Coordinating incident investigation reporting.
- Manage WCB claims, Return to Work Program, claims appeal and claim costs.
- Oversee the design and delivery of training programs for workers, management, and Safety Committee members to comply with legislative requirements.
- Develop and deliver safety training as required
- Track safety performance, identify areas of weakness and set and measure results against goals.
- Audit the compliance to company safety policies and procedures and take necessary steps to remedy areas of non-compliance in cooperation with management.
- Administer the Safety program, including document control, monitoring, and maintenance of Safety records.
- Conduct environmental, health and safety inspections in the workplace.
- Training site employees on environmental, health & safety advice to all employees.
- Track environmental, health and safety inspections and audit findings to closure.
- Report injuries, illnesses and near misses to the corporate environmental, health and safety department and business leaders.
Qualifications:
- Certification in Health and Safety and significant knowledge of Health, Safety and WCB related legislation in Manitoba
- OHS Certificate, CRSP designation or equivalent (or actively pursuing designation)
- Preferred 5 years experience in Health, Safety and Workers Compensation role in a manufacturing environment, with a verifiable track record of program success in a management position with increasing responsibility in health and safety.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organization and analytical skills
- Knowledge of business and plant processes
- Ability to prepare and sell business cases for proposed projects
- Computer skills
- Leader and Manager skills – department and project team management
- Significant skills required to accomplish goals through people who do not report to this position
- Ability to design and evaluate effective training programs
- Considerable tact and discretion required in dealing with employees, managers and external enforcement authorities on safety issues
