Health and Safety Coordinator

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct and assist in identifying EH&S risks and hazards in the workplace as well as incident investigations, workplace inspections and hazard/risk assessments.
  • Conduct and assist with tracking of EH&S inspections and audit findings
  • Work with Supervisors in completing incident investigations and closing out action items.
  • Collaborate with functional departments to determine health and safety improvement opportunities within the facility.
  • Ensure that personal protective equipment is provided and being utilized, and all applicable record keeping is up to date.
  • Utilize incident and root cause analysis to provide direction and recommendations on how to mitigate/control losses and foster a proactive safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with all JELD WEN global standards, policies, and applicable legislated requirements.
  • Filing/data input
  • Writing of JSAs and LOTO procedures.
  • Maintaining and updating department training Matrix.
  • Maintain company SDS program.
  • Quickly adjust from one task to another, prioritize, and multitask.
  • Administration of all Health and Safety Programs
  • Coordinates OHS training with external vendors as well as developing and delivering in-house EH&S Training as required.
  • Proactive Safety thinking and a willingness to assist in creating a positive safety culture

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-secondary education directly related to Occupational Health and Safety with a minimum of 3 years’ related experience in a manufacturing industry is an asset
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Desire to get out and about the facility, completing daily walk throughs and inspections in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrates results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks at one time and prioritize as necessary to achieve deadlines.
  • Have experience or training in LEAN and Continuous Improvement.
  • Ability to confidently conduct orientations and employee training.
  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Responsible, conscientious, and detailed work ethic required.
  • Strong PC skills and experience with Microsoft Office software applications.
  • Ability to learn new software applications which will be a part of performing this job.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Seeks out and applies best practices as solutions to correct deficiencies.
  • Follow the JELD WEN: EH&S- Rolls and Responsibilities guidelines as well as policies and procedures.
