JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Financial Analyst to join our growing team.

 

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position is focused on performing period close activities including any fiduciary reporting, analytics, and control requirements. This position will require interaction with other disciplines within the business units in Canada and be able to function effectively in the Financial Controllership Team. They will ensure that the dynamic requirements of the business units across Canada and Corporate Finance are being appropriately supported.
 

Key Responsibilities/Areas of Accountability:

  • Accounting and Financial Operations
    • Period End Duties - Month end closing activities including analysis, journal entry preparation, and account reconciliations in accordance with SOX controls
    • Assist with the preparation of monthly / quarterly consolidated financial reporting packages including Balance Sheet and Income Statements, flux reporting, corporate packages and schedules
    • Continuous process improvement driving precision, efficiency, and effectiveness in the accounting, closing, and reporting activities
    • Collaborate with counterparts in N.A. to ensure consistency and best practices
  • Management Reporting and Analytics
    • Generation, analysis, and distribution of all Plant locations and JWOC SG&A department statements; review of monthly financial statements and results with comparatives, analysis, and detailed explanation of changes vs. budgets, and prior year
    • Preparation and submission of various reports, analytics and explanations for Canada to the N.A. Corporate office and teams
    • Collaborate with the Financial Controllership team to support and own the financial close process, analyze variances, and provide timely reporting
    •  Assist with the preparation, consolidation and analysis of Monthly Management reporting packages and presentations including business and regional
  • Management Support
    • Provide insight, analysis, and explanation of financial results to Plant Managers across Canada
    • Support the distribution of Plant Departmental statements including investigation and review of variances
    • Drive to understand, document, and expose root causes of performance issues and provide suggestions for remediation and / or corrective action
  • Other
    • Drive continuous improvement in finance processes / activities and standardizing across all business units improving efficiency and effectiveness of the Finance team
    • Various ad hoc requests or duties as required and / or assigned
       

Technical/Professional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong Communication Skills - Ability to summarize and present conclusions at all levels of the organization. Convey complex information in a simple and straightforward manner
  • Strong financial and business acumen
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi system environment
  • Advanced Excel Skills required (data downloading, efficient manipulation and analysis)
  • Superior problem-solving abilities – thinking outside of the box for appropriate solutions
  • Team player - Needs to work cross functionally to drive improvements and deliver results
  • Hands on, detail oriented with the ability to think outside the box
     

Qualifications:          

Education

  • University Degree – Commerce or Business Admin
  • Accreditations – Finance Designation such as CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) actively pursuing or near completion required

Related Experience

  • 4 to 6 years related accounting experience in a manufacturing and distribution environment required
  • Knowledge and experience with US GAAP and SOX (Bill 198) environment
  • Experience with SAP will be considered a strong asset
  • Public company experience or exposure preferred
