General Job Description:

The Sales & Demand Analyst will work closely with the FP&A Manager as the business partner for the Canadian Leadership Teams providing actionable business insight that will lead to improved financial performance. The FP&A team is responsible for managing S&OP, annual sales budgets, monthly / quarterly forecast, weekly pulses and providing analytical support for senior management. The position requires a highly motivated individual to provide top quality, value added analysis and insight. The successful candidate must have exceptional analytical and interpersonal skills and is responsible to ensure his/her customer team has all the necessary analysis and business acumen required to make optimal business decisions. In addition, this individual must be a self-starter with strong data and financial modelling background, problem solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast paced environment with disparate, complex systems and data.


Key Responsibilities/Areas of Accountability:

  •  SIOP and IBP (Financial Planning and Forecasting)
    • JWOC business lead working closely with the Sales and Operations teams to develop and complete monthly financial and unitary demand forecasts by Region, Channel, and product category.
    • Manage and operate statistical models providing base line unit and sales forecast, while ensuring high integrity, reasonableness, and accuracy.
    • Working with Provincial Sales Management (PSMs) to understand and incorporate business wins / losses, market changes within the demand plan.
    • Translate the sales demand forecast into an actionable operations forecast and collaborate with Plant Management teams to incorporate and plan in their businesses.
    • Identifying sources of forecast inaccuracy and developing action plans to close the gaps. Continual improvement of the forecasting process.
    • Lead initiatives to improve forecasting process in coordination with Sales and Operations.
    • Utilize monthly cross-functional collaboration meetings to support the development of realistic sales and operations plans with necessary risk and opportunity assumptions.
    • Coordinate, facilitate, and consolidate monthly executive summary of results and presentation by Channel, PSM, and Plant location. Explain monthly variance of results from budget, forecast, and prior year.
    • Develop, prepare, and analyse reports summarizing sales and margin information by channel, product category, PSM, and plant.
    • Assist FP&A team in preparation of strategic, analytical, and insightful presentations to the Canadian Management Teams in support of achieving monthly, quarterly, and annual business targets and objectives.
  • Sales Reporting and Analytics
    • Compile, process, summarize and analyze data based on sales and profitability objectives and prepare reports for delivery in a timely manner with a high degree of accuracy.
    • Prepare regular reporting and ad hoc reports for current business needs in support of initiatives and daily sales operations.
    • Analyze sales performance in light of sales goals, and identify areas of weakness the organization can address to improve sales and profitability.
    • Provide recommendation for changes in sales techniques or promotional efforts to improve sales performance.
    • Additional projects and requests in support of the Canadian sales team as required or assigned.
    • Assisting in the definition, updating, and tracking of key performance metrics and indicators.
  • Other
    • Developing, reviewing, and updating company policies, guidelines, and procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with sales guidelines, processes and controls across Canada in accordance with SOX.


Technical/Professional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Strong understanding of Budgeting and Forecasting process and techniques
    • Ability to analyze and interpret financial results. Compiling data from various sources and systems in order to create effective reports.
    • Excellent Communication Skills - Ability to summarize and present conclusions, and provide clear and concise training and coaching to fellow colleagues.
    • Ability to work effectively in a multi system environment.
    • Advanced proficiency in Excel (data downloading, effective and efficient manipulation and analysis), PowerPoint, and Outlook.
    • Superior problem solving abilities – thinking outside of the box for appropriate solutions
    • Initiative/Dynamic - Needs to drive improvements and work with colleagues on multitude of issues and processes  
    • Ability to be highly productive with minimal oversight from senior management
    • Detailed and deadline oriented individual.






    • University Degree
    • Accreditations – MBA or Finance Designation such as CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) an asset
