CNC Programmer


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Follows prescribed safety policies and regulations, specifically automation and robotic safety systems, light curtains, and complex safety systems.
  • Maintain automation manufacturing systems, robotics, and similar automated machinery.
  • Performs machine maintenance that includes oiling, greasing, cleaning, etc. on machines.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition.
  • Complete preventative maintenance on equipment including scheduling or performing any repairs and maintenance.  Improve PM program as necessary.
  • Read manuals, Electrical, Pneumatic, Assembly drawings in order to troubleshoot and dis-assemble/assemble machinery.
  • Works on pneumatics and hydraulic systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and electronic controls on manufacturing equipment for rebuilding, repairing or fabricating purposes.
  • Assist in Automation design reviews and factory acceptance testing (may require infrequent domestic/international travel).
  • Support Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement programs.
  • This is a full-time position and requires regular attendance.


Competencies: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Experienced with industrial robotic hardware and programming: Staubli, Kuka, ABB, Fanuc, etc
  • Experienced with industry PLC software programming and modification: Rockwell/AB, Siemens, Beckhoff, etc.
  • Experienced with CNC programming
  • Experienced with CAD systems; AutCAD and Solidworks preferred
  • Experienced with networking, PC & server OS maintenance

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. English required.


Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
