Summer 2025 Internship: Engineering, Venice, FL

ABOUT THE ROLE

The JELD-WEN Summer Internship Program empowers talented undergraduate students to gain real-world working experience and professional development. This position is focused on the Plant Engineering business area and is located in our Venice, FL Plant. The internship program includes meaningful projects and challenging work assignments geared at developing professional competencies and skills in a chosen discipline. Additionally, throughout the summer internship, participants will have the opportunity for professional development, mentoring, and networking opportunities to help enhance future leadership.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

In the past, our interns have had the opportunity to:

• Support several projects in our Venice, FL plant as it gears up to add new products and processes to its existing lines:
  • Support new product implementation and plant layout
  • Project management related to new equipment installation on the production floor
  • Vetting designs with R&D Engineers

• Designing/prototyping assembly/manufacturing support fixtures and tools.
• Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives that support continuous process improvements

• Work schedule: Mon-Fri in person; some flexibility with remote work

SKILLS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE

Required

• Currently enrolled rising junior or senior students majoring in: Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering
• Proficiency in a CAD software (Inventor, SolidWorks) – drawing, design, layout
• Intermediate Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency
• Experience in project management
• Experience with LEAN/Six Sigma principles
• Positive attitude with demonstrated work ethic and detail-orientation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment and work to a high caliber while demonstrating attention to detail.
• Collaboration and teamwork.
• Leadership experience and relationship-building skills.

Recommended

• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• CNC programming experience
• Continuous Improvement experience
• Relevant internship or previous work experience.
