Lab Technician Assistant

JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Lab Technician Assistant to join our growing team.

Coatings Division Job Description - Lab Technician

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Safety
  •  Wear eye, ear, and foot protection when required. 
  • Use extreme caution when working on or around machinery.
  • Know and be able to locate the designated areas for first aid, SDS/HMIS forms, and

firefighting equipment.

• • Observe and follow SDS/HMIS requirements.
  • Follow all spill control measures.
  • Know locations of all master switches, and emergency stops for your work area.
  • Keep work areas clean, and orderly.
• Understand and operate all lab instrumentation.
  • Update software if necessary.
• Laboratory testing, calibration, & project work.
• Keep lab area cleaned up as needed.
• Keep the lab raw material containers filled up. Contact factory personnel when a container needs refilling.
• Restock lab supplies daily. 
  • Prepare reorder request.
  • Including test substrate from customer profiles.
• Maintain monitoring systems for incoming materials.
• Manage, document, and maintain materials through the lab-stock room.
  • Receive incoming materials.
  • Organize based on material category.
  • File SDS & TDS.
  • Identify expired materials and dispose properly.
• Organize lab-stock room.
• Produce lab batches to test new raw materials and evaluate performance.
• Work with Plant Manager/Chemist on special projects associated with developing, commercializing new products.
• Work with Plant Manager/Chemist on:
  • Statistical quality control/SPC
  • Lab SOP’s & templates.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled as a student at University or College.  Temporary employment through summer break.
• Professional skills
  • Advanced Microsoft excel skills.
  • Critical thinking and Problem solving.
  • Excellent verbal communication.
  • Goal setting and forecasting.

Expected pay for this role is between $21 to $23 per hour and is based on experience and qualifications.
