JELD-WEN is currently seeking a General Production to join our growing team.

 

JOB TITLE:  General Utility

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: The General Utility employee will be responsible for safe and efficient forklift operation, assisting Operator in meeting production and maintaining the overall plant cleanliness.  This will ensure a safe and effective work environment for the plant.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 

  1. Warehousing Duties:

      - Fork lifting responsibilities include:

  • Staging raw material for batch making

- Supply, and remove in-process raw material bags to, and from:

                  - Staging area                    - Warehouse Storage

                  - Incoming trucks              - Dock area

                              - Count and band loads correctly. 

  • Warehousing

- Maintain an orderly, efficient, and clean warehouse.

- Stack units in a safe and stable manner without causing any damage to product, plant structure, or equipment.

- Utilize warehouse space effectively.  Stack all units in rows at a minimum of 6” vertical.

  • Pallets

- Supply the proper sized pallets to store drums.

- Stack and band pallets for shipment to recycler.

  • Shipping and receiving materials
  • Liquid material by means of tanker, totes, drums, and 5-gal. pals.
  • Pigment bags/sacks
  • Pallets, totes, drums, etc….

 

 

 

B.  General Utility Duties:

      1.  Operation

     - Familiarize yourself with the different operations in the plant.

- Filling tankers          

- Changing filters                             

- Wrapping drums               

     2.  Housekeeping - The following areas need to be kept clean, and orderly on a daily basis.

      - Aisles

      - Staging area

      ‑ Catwalk

      - Colorant weigh station

      - Properly dispose of waste bags and five gallon pails

      - Turn off all dispersers and air compressors and water at the end of the day.

3.   Other duties as assigned by your manager.

 

C.  Safety:

- Use all available safety equipment, and keep all safety guards in place.

- Wear eye, ear, and foot protection when required.

- Use extreme caution when working on or around machinery.

- Know and use “JELD-WEN’s Lock-Out”.

- Know and be able to locate the designated areas for first aid, MSDS/HMIS forms, radioactive material, and firefighting equipment.

  • Observe and follow HMIS/MSDS requirements.
  • Follow all spill control measures
  • Know locations of all master switches, and emergency stops for your work area.

 

- Respirator/dust mask and goggles are required while using an air hose for cleaning, or when high levels of  dust is in the air.

- Keep work areas clean, and orderly.

 

D.  Communication

- Prepare clear and concise records of completed batch card.

- Communicate with the Manager at the beginning of shift to receive special work assignments daily.

- Immediately inform your Manager of supply problems, hazards, and accidents or injuries.                              

- Inform the Operators of your presence when working in their area.

 

  1. Quality:
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the batch card instructions before beginning each day.

- Report any inconsistencies in the formulas or raw materials.

 

F.  Physical Requirements:

- Lift heavy loads, up to 50 lbs., occasionally.

- Stand 2 to 3 hours continuously between break times.

- Use hand and power tools in a safe manner.

- Climb stair, and ladder accesses to work, and maintenance areas.

 

 

G.  House Keeping:

- Sweep up pigment from the staging area at the end of each grind.

- Sweep the warehouse area at the beginning and end of each day.

- Vacuum dust from raw material inventory

Expected pay for this role is between $22.60 to $22.60  per hour and is based on experience and qualifications.
