A qualified Senior Manager, Process Engineering is responsible for leading and supporting the implementation of process improvements throughout the company.

Scope of Position:

Senior level process engineer position focused on the entire Wood Fiber Products manufacturing process. Expectation is to lead projects, experiments, and technical initiatives in support of business technical roadmap. Capable of leading platform process start-ups, new product scaling into manufacturing, and general process rigor in manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

Define, Scope and Document a Project or Process

  • Lead process start-up, scaling, and/or migration activities in support with business priorities.
  • Design, plan, and execute experiments to improve process performance and build fundamental understanding of key process variables.
  • Develop process maps, Time Standards, Quality Standards, and Standard Work

Assessing Current Conditions

  • Basic Value Stream, Customer Demand & Line Pace, Takt,
  • Machine capacity, Process Stability, and Staffing Levels

Create/Maintain Process Control Plans

  • KIV, KOV, “Who, What, When, Where”, and Contingencies

Process Auditing

  • Audit processes to understand if work standards are being applied to the actual manufacturing process
  • Audit materials/finished product to ensure quality meets/exceeds expectations (MIR, PIR)
  • Ownership of engaging plant on corrective actions to out of governance events.
  • Support of manufacturing engineering in troubleshooting process upsets.

Application of Six Sigma Tools

  • DMAIC, Cp, Cpk
  • Working ability in Statistical Software package - MiniTab, JMP
  • Have working knowledge of gage capability, and be able to perform Gauge R&R

Application of Lean Manufacturing Tools

  • Waste identification/elimination
  • Material Flow and concepts of JIT, Jidoka, along with Information Flow
  • Basic Problem Solving

 

 

Productivity

  • Lead projects focused on cost reduction, capability improvement, or continuous process improvement.
  • Develop pro-forma information for CAPEX, assist in implementation, and ensure performance
  • Deliver results of project to plant manufacturing engineering/operations with rigorous hand-off criteria.

Safety

  • Must be familiar with industrial best practices regarding safety. Perform risk assessment as part of all proposed process changes

Requirements and Qualifications:

Bachelors of Science in Engineering or technical field of study.  Experience with Chemical/Coating/Ceramics Engineering a plus.

Ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Able to design and conduct controlled experiments (DOE), analyze results, and draw conclusions.

Demonstrated results using advanced problem-solving techniques/tools.

Six Sigma certification with working statistical knowledge and data analysis capability.

Comfortable and skilled at facilitating cross functional groups

Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office products

Clear to work in the United States for a period no less than 5 years

Moderate travel may be required, estimate < 20%
