JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Plant Facilities Supervisor to join our growing team.
Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Plant Facilities/Environmental Manager, the Plant Facilities Supervisor/Group Manager is responsible for supervising the staff and operations of the physical plant and managing physical plant activities. You will also formulate goals and objectives, oversee, and review the work of staff, provide staff training and assistance. In this role, you will conduct performance evaluations, oversee the operation and maintenance of the Plant Boiler, Wastewater Treatment Plant and Fire Systems. Responsible for creating, executing, and monitoring a scheduling management system.
This position is based onsite at our facility in Towanda, PA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Department Manager, this position will manage and implement the activities on the shop floor, following established procedures and approved processes consistent with JELD-WEN’s Mission Statement.
- This position will work with “Lead” employees and is responsible for providing direct leadership to some “Lead” employees and their subordinates in their assigned areas in support of plant operations, goals, and objectives.
- Position acts as a Liaison between upper management and the rank-and-file hourly employees providing timely feedback up and down the organizational hierarchy.
- Determines priorities and plans facility work; develops or assists in the development of related policy and standards; assists in the preparation of the physical plant budget; maintains contacts with other operating units both within and outside of the physical plant who might impact on activities.
- Supervises a team of approximately thirty direct reports ensuring boiler operation and steam distribution throughout the facility to the production lines.
- Works with internal and external resources to provide solutions and improvements to machines, equipment, and facility to meet plant goals, reduce costs, ensure safety compliance, and improve overall equipment effectiveness.
- Acts and performs as an interface between maintenance, manufacturing, contractors, and engineering. Communicates and coordinates work done by outside contractors or vendors. Responsible for educating contractors on company policy and procedures. Develops and follows project schedules for implementing equipment into the plant.
- Assists in the performance evaluations of staff and assists in proactive actions of subordinate personnel on an annual, bi-annual, or on an as needed basis.
- Acts as a safety leader and puts safety first in all responsibilities. Works in conjunction with the EHS Manager to establish and maintain all policies and programs to assure a safe working environment.
- Assures team activities, equipment, facilities, and personnel are operated and maintained in a manner consistent with plant production goals and objectives, as established by the Plant Manager, Department Manager, and other managerial personnel, inclusive of corporate goals and objectives.
- Provides leadership and training to accomplish plant/company goals and objectives in accordance with JELD-WEN’s Mission Statement.
- Implements and maintains preventative maintenance programs.
- Assists in development, and implements safety awareness programs, communicates safety issues, corrects safety related problems, and assists in investigations into safety related issues as needed and as directed.
- May perform other or specified duties as directed by the Department Manager.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Associate’s Degree in a related field and one (1) to three (3) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, to be determined by plant management.
- Some related college work and five (5) to seven (7) years of applicable work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, to be determined by plant management.
- Strong knowledge of plant manufacturing processes and boiler operations, wastewater and boiler water treatment processes and commercial fire systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills up and down the organizational hierarchy.
- Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office and other position applicable software applications.
- Must be flexible and able to manage multiple priorities daily.
