JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Plant Engineering Mgr to join our growing team.

 

The Opportunity

As a Plant Facilities Engineering Manager, at JELD-WEN, you will be responsible for supervising the staff and operations of the physical plant, coordinates, plans and manages physical plant activities. You will also formulate goals and objectives, oversee, and review the work of staff, provide staff training and assistance. In this role, you will conduct performance evaluations, oversee the operation and maintenance of the Plant Boiler, Wastewater Treatment Plant, Fire Systems and Natural Gas Contracts. You will report directly to the Plant Manager.

 

This is an onsite position and will be based at our Towanda, PA facility.

 

What You Will Do

  • Determines priorities and plans facility work; develops or assists in the development of related policy and standards; prepares or assists in the preparation of the physical plant budget; maintains contacts with other operating units both within and outside of the physical plant who might impact on activities.
  • Manages a Team of thirty direct reports ensuring Boiler Operation and Steam Distribution throughout the facility to the Production Lines.
  • Prepares department annual budget, manages expenses of department within budget, and reviews this regularly with Plant Manager. Assists with preparing plant capital budget requests for following year’s capital projects.
  • Prepares paperwork to initiate capital projects when assigned, which includes engineering requests, engineering estimates, account numbers, authorization for capital expenditures and capital project requests; sends information to the corporate office for approval.
  • Works with internal and external resources to provide solutions and improvements to machines, equipment, and facility to meet plant goals, reduce costs, ensure safety compliance, and improve overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Develops specifications for production equipment; assists in the selection, purchase, and installation of the equipment in the plant. Follows capital projects from the initial idea through implementation into the plant. Maintains capital project cost tracking and reports quarterly expenditures.
  • Responsible for safety as it pertains to OSHA requirements on equipment. Maintains efficient, accurate, and timely records and reports relating to all projects and equipment.
  • Acts and performs as an interface between maintenance, manufacturing, contractors, and engineering. Communicates and coordinates work done by outside contractors or vendors. Responsible for educating contractors on company policy and procedures. Develops and follows project schedules for implementing equipment into the plant.
  • Is responsible for all elements of supervision including hiring, terminations, recognition, discipline, training, employee relations, performance management and salary administration.
  • Acts as a safety leader and puts safety first in all responsibilities. Works in conjunction with the EHS Manager to establish and maintain all policies and programs to assure a safe working environment.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical /Manufacturing Engineering is required with a minimum of 10 years related Engineering and/or Manufacturing experience required.
  • Significant technical experience in the maintenance and repair of large buildings and utility services.
  • A minimum of 3 years of previous supervisory experience required.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills to include MS Office, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, or equivalents.
  • Engineering background with depth of knowledge of plant manufacturing processes and Boiler Operations, Wastewater and Boiler Water Treatment Processes and Commercial Fire Systems.

Expected pay for this role is between $131,400.00 to $219,000.00 per year and is based on experience and qualifications.​
