The HR Manager maintains and enhances the company’s culture through human resources by talent management recruiting and developing top talent, evaluating, planning, and implementing employee relations and human resource policies, programs, and practices. This includes the ability to perform every HR function with expertise and as a trusted advisor to employees and management. They are to maintain the highest level of discretion regarding employees and the company with regards to confidentiality; continually analyze and make recommendations to lead in positive company culture; and communicate effectively and professionally through oral and written interactions. This position will have at least 1 direct report.

 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Develops and administers various human resource plans for all facility personnel
  • Provides leadership, direction, training, and guidance to associates and personnel up and down the organizational hierarchy
  • Implements and annually updates compensation programs; rewrites job descriptions as necessary; conducts annual salary surveys and develops merit system; analyzes compensation; monitors the performance evaluation program and system and revises as necessary and performs same on departmental staff
  • Handles personnel files, confidential correspondence and materials associated with all plant and facility personnel with a high degree of integrity
  • Develops, recommends, and implements personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains Policy and Procedure Manual and summarizes same into an Employee Handbook on said policies and procedures for distribution to employees
  • Performs or oversees benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, annual re-evaluation of benefits for cost-effectiveness, information activities program and cash flow
  • Develops and maintains affirmative action program; files EEO-1 annually; maintains other records, reports, logs, and files to conform to EEO regulations
  • Conducts or assists in recruitment efforts for exempt and non-exempt personnel, students, and temporary employees; conducts new-employee orientations; monitors career-pathing program, employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing; writes and places advertisements
  • Evaluates reports, decisions, and results of the department in relation to established JELD-WEN goals
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the plant/department and services performed
  • Promotes positive employee relations and trains managers on conducting Performance Evaluations of their subordinates for both positive and negative reinforcement behavior modifications
  • May lead and/or partake in collective bargaining negotiations where applicable
  • Proactively delegates work, and manages the productivity, accuracy, and efficiency of the Human Resource staff under the position’s domain

Education and Experience:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or Business preferred and 4-6 years of experience with progressive growth as a generalist or business partner
  • Prior background experience supporting cross functional teams (legal, compensation, payroll, talent management)
  • General knowledge of employment law and practices (FMLA, State and Federal Compliance laws)
  • Fundamental knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing process improvement techniques, including, but not limited to, SQDCI, OTD, TPS, and Continuous Improvement (CI) activities and objectives, preferably at JELD-WEN, or the door and window industry
  • the company may request to perform drug test and background
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Knowledge of Mexico Labor Laws
  • Experience with Maquiladoras (preferred)
  • Experience with Labor Unions
