THE ROLE
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is a critical position for our quality organization, partnering closely with Sourcing/Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing and suppliers ensuring that quality standards are consistently met. The SQE leads supplier qualification, performance monitoring, root cause analysis, supplier audits and corrective action activities to support overall business and customer quality objectives.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead supplier qualification, onboarding and approval process.
- Open supplier complaints and track corrective actions up to its closure.
- Conduct supplier audits.
- Develop and maintain supplier quality performance requirements, scorecards and agreements (in partnership with Sourcing and Legal)
- Support OPS with new products ramp up, supplier issues and new parts development.
- Lead investigation and resolution of supplier quality issues, including non-conformances and customer complaints linked to supplier non-conformances.
- Lead PPAP, RCA, CAPA.
- Support supplier chance management.
- Support development of incoming inspection plans.
- Generate supplier management related reports as required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Strong communication and influencing skills across all levels of organization, internal teams and suppliers.
- Strong knowledge of quality systems and standards (ISO 9001 required, IATF 16949 preferred).
- Proficiency in problem-solving (8D, A3, 5Y, Fishbone, etc.)
- Proficiency in PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, Supplier Audit.
- Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Ability to work with multiple divisions with different levels of maturity regarding quality management system.
- Excellent organization and project management skills.
- Ability to travel up to 50% to Jeld wen facilities and suppliers.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality, Manufacturing or related technical field.
- 3-7 years’ experience in supplier Quality, Quality Engineering or Manufacturing Quality.
- Hands-on experience with supplier audits, RCA, PPAP, supplier validation.
