JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Group Lead to join our growing team.
American Building Supply (ABS), a subsidiary of Jeld Wen, and one of the Nation’s largest wholesale suppliers of Doors, Door Hardware, Windows, and Millwork, currently has a position available for a Group Lead – Production to assist our Manufacturing division in providing value-added goods and services to our customers.
Summary / Objective
Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor/Manager the Lead is responsible in leading the team at start up (cover previous day’s results, needs of our area, targets for the day/week and ensure stretches are complete). Support one or more areas such as: Warehouse, Shipping, Assembly and/or Final Processing. Participates in the planning, scheduling, manufacturing of doors, shipping and/or warehouse area. Update and be prepared to present your areas SQDCI boards at Gemba. Assist with engagement plans for the team.
Essential functions
· Ensure hour x hour boards are kept up. Hour x hour actions will be driven by missed goals and opportunities, those actions will be listed on the SQDCI boards, Pareto actions and drive RAIL’s from tallest poles.
· Maintain a safe working environment. Hold self and other associates accountable to JELD-WEN policies and procedures.
· Begin work 15 minutes prior to shift with the expectation to gather necessary information from all pertinent departments necessary to plan for the day.
· Breaks must be taken in a timely manner to comply with local and state laws.
· 5S Tracked and improvement activities maintained.
Ensure schedule is adhered to and any issues are escalated to Group Manager.
· Breaks, lunch times and tracking of excessive time away from workstations for your team will fall under your responsibility to escalate.
· Follow escalation process. Communicate when a manufacturing line has been shut down for 30 minutes or more
· Responsible at the end of the shift for:
o Assisting Group Manager with daily reports as needed
o Update schedule attainment board and SQDCI board
· Communicate professionally and respectfully with all personnel.
· Maintain cross training matrix for Team.
· Celebrate wins with the team.
· Share associate achievements with Supervisor and recommend rewards.
· Conforms with safety regulations per plant policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines.
· Reports unsafe conditions immediately to appropriate supervision.
· Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Competencies
· Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on professional business demeanor, communication and customer service.
· Proficiency in Microsoft office, specifically Excel and Word; comfortable with calendar management and email in Outlook.
· Strong organizational skills.
· Superior attention to detail and commitment to accuracy for data entry with timely follow through.
· Keen understanding of confidentiality; ability to manage sensitive information with tact and discretion.
· Prioritization, project coordination and collaboration skills required

Work environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is rarely exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and machines, vibrations and loud noises.
All safety protocols including OSHA guidelines as mentioned above are mandatory.

Required education and experience.
Qualifications:
· High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required;
· At least 5 years of experience in a production, manufacturing, warehouse and/or shipping environment or a combination of experience and education.
· At least 2 years of Lead or Supervisor experience or equivalent experience
· Systemic problem solver uses logic to resolve root cause problems.
· Strong written and oral communication skills
· Computer knowledge (Microsoft Office)
· Must have the ability to maintain the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality together with a clear vision of business needs.

Expected pay for this role is between $30,03 to $33,20 per hour and is based on experience and qualifications.
