Summary/Objective 
The Staff Accountant is responsible for the general accounting and cost accounting functions of the business.  They must adhere to all public company standards including Sarbanes Oxley.  This role supports the manufacturing plants with capital expenditure analysis including calculating the project payback and the internal rate of return.  The Staff Accountant supports the accounts payable function in ensuring all documentation is included in every voucher package in accordance with JELD-WEN business controls.  The ability to interact and build relationships with each department in the business is essential to the success of the individual in this role.  The individual in this role must be able to work well under pressure and complete tasks with tight deadlines.

  • Maintains local fixed asset ledger system and posts monthly depreciation to local GL
  • Performs financial analysis for capital expenditure requests and submits them through the JELD-WEN CERF program with assistance of plant management
  • Ensures all expenses are posted within the correct accounting period through month end cutoff communication with all department managers
  • Review AP voucher packages to ensure proper general ledge coding and that all proper documentation is included in accordance with JELD-WEN business controls. 
  • Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files and performs monthly account reconciliations
  • Act as a resource for all departments within the business to answer questions regarding JELD-WEN business controls and help maintain SOX compliance
  • Prepares and reviews cost and pricing reports/data and interprets results to senior management
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation and support

 

  • Supervisory Responsibility
    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

     

  • Work Environment

    This job operates in a combination of a professional office environment and manufacturing setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers/scanners. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

This position is moderately active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. 

     

  • Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, 40 hours per week.

    Travel requirements for this position are less than 5%

     

  • Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Preferred at least 3 - 5 years of experience in accounting or finance
  • Basic knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley requirements

 

  • Preferred Education and Experience

  • 2 – 3 years of experience in a Manufacturing setting
  • ASC 360 PPE
  • ASC 842 Basic Leasing
  • IRS FAVR/Auto Program Personal Use
