JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Shipping Manager to join our growing team.
Summary
Under the supervision of the Plant Manager, the Shipping Manager is responsible for managing the plant shipping department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure proper shipping and inspection of all outbound product and materials.
- Assist with creating and sustaining 5S standards throughout warehouse and packaging areas.
- Partner with on-site production managers, production schedulers and shipping office personnel to plan for shipping needs.
- Manage and maintain all shipping paperwork and data.
- Supervise shipping team to verify that all safety and quality standards are met.
- Drive continuous improvement with JELD-WEN Excellence Model (JEM) tools and processes.
- Problem solve and drive continuous improvement using the A3 method.
- Provides leadership and training to accomplish plant/company goals and objectives in accordance with JELD-WEN’s Mission Statement.
- Assists in development, and implements safety awareness programs, communicates safety issues, corrects safety-related problems and assists in investigations into safety-related issues as needed and as directed.
- Assists in the performance evaluations of team and proactively manages performance daily.
- Ability to create and modify shipping lanes and determine route costing, i.e. Parcel, LTL, Contract Carrier, company Fleet to determine best option.
- Ability to flex shipping routes when territory shifts occur or seasonal shifts in demand dictate.
- Ability to provide fleet maintenance and work with vendors and corporate for leas programs, fuel, and repair and maintenance.
- May perform other or specified duties as directed by the Plant Manager, Office Manager, or other appropriate supervisory personnel.

- Ability to provide fleet maintenance and work with vendors and corporate for lease programs, fuel, and repair and maintenance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, associate’s degree and relevant job experience required.
- 5+ years shipping and/or logistics experience to include managing a high volume, made to order product.
- Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, technical aptitude, and critical thinking skills, and the ability to drive process improvement techniques throughout the shipping process in a skillful and deliberate manner.
- Strong team skills, including the ability to coach and develop work teams and provide proper training on CI methods and initiatives to subordinates.
- The ability to motivate/empower others, and resolve conflict, and possess a basic understanding of management principles and concepts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills up and down the organizational hierarchy.
- Must be flexible and able to manage multiple priorities on a daily basis.
- Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office and other position applicable software applications.
- Travel is primarily local during the business day. May on occasion travel to appropriate seminars and training.
