VPI Quality Windows, a division of JELD-WEN, has opened a new production facility in Statesville, NC. VPI, the leading manufacturer of light commercial windows for mid-rise residential applications in the Western United States, now needs additional capacity to service our fast growing Eastern United States business. 

JOB OVERVIEW:

Provides basic and enhanced functions necessary to ensure a smooth efficient flow of materials, parts and supplies throughout the organization in order to support production requirements. This includes overall organization of materials, visibility of material levels, maintenance of stocking policies, ensuring items are put away in consistent and correct locations, monitoring and improving bill of material runway.                                       

PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for accurately maintaining detailed records of products in existing inventory as well as inventory on order         
  • Accurately counts bulk product in primary warehouse locations
  • Performs appropriate adjustments on inventory levels
  • Researches discrepancies as it relates to inventory levels, as needed
  • Assists with physical inventory
  • Develops, recommends, and implements new processes and procedures when necessary
  • Establishes and maintains incoming inspection process for raw materials
  • Ensures proper documentation is delivered to Purchasing and Receiving upon receipt of materials
  • Provides support to production employees for putting items on shelves in accordance with orderly inventory location system.
  • Monitors and assists in ensuring materials are delivered to the production line in a timely fashion.
  • Performs cycle counting on all inventory items to ensure accurate, on-going inventory
  • Stays current on ERP processes to ensure accuracy and standardization. Keep inventory records updated to reflect current and accurate information.
  • Operates a forklift on an as-needed basis to load and unload materials and deliver materials to the production floor
  • Keeps Purchasing Supervisor and Plant Manager informed of pertinent issues involving inventory quality or levels.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Skills:

  • Previous forklift experience preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of inventory control procedures and techniques in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with computerized ERP system and to perform basic mathematical computations preferred.
  • Must possess the organizational skills required to maintain an organized and professional work area.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Must be able to comply with direction, both written and verbal.
  • Works well in a team environment with a diverse workforce.
  • Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices.

Experience:

  • College Degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • 3 - 5 years of previous shipping, receiving, or warehouse experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Ability to lift 25-50 pounds regularly, occasionally team lift up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to team assist move/slide 100+ pounds infrequently – as needed
  • Standing 10 hours per day
