As a valued member of the rapidly growing global procurement team, the Sr. Category Manager will lead the management of assigned commodities for the NA region.  This person will establish and implement short and long term strategies for continued cost reduction and value improvement and also be responsible for negotiating all major contracts and agreements within the category, delivering the best value to JELD-WEN.


This is an exciting opportunity to join a team that is shaping global procurement policies and strategy across JELD-WEN.  The incumbent will take ownership of an assigned commodity and deliver on agreed upon KPIs for that category.  Our global procurement team sources commodities including:


  • Glass
  • Metals
  • Logs & Lumber
  • Boards & Doors
  • Chemicals
  • Glass, Screens, Spacers
  • Window and Door Hardware
  • Plastic Components
  • Molding & Millwork
  • Packaging
  • Indirect Material & Equipment


Principle Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Build cross functional relationships and partnerships with suppliers to improve value, quality, delivery, performance and technology solutions.
  • Seek opportunities to leverage spend and volume and mitigate occurences of inflationary factors
  • Identify strategic, preferred and development suppliers
  • Negotiate the lowest total cost of ownership for assigned commodities
  • Work collaboratively in a highly matrixed and fast paced organization


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:


  • Strong foundational knowledge and accumen in procurement and category management
  • Professional knowledge to support, advise and deliver on strategy underpinning global sourcing efforts and deliver on key KPIs
  • Project management skills including excellent planning, time management, decision making and organization skills
  • Skilled in building effective working relationships with vendors and suppliers by taking a customer-focused approach
  • Exemplary ability to analyze, evaluate, and report procurement information and data to inform management decisions and track outcomes
  • Self-motivated and results oriented with a bias to action
  • Commitment to own professional development


Education and Experience:


  • An expectation of 5+ years or equivalent depth of experience in a senior level soucing role within a high volume, global manufacturing business is required
  • A minimum of 4 years higher education completed.
  • A strong background in global sourcing with the ability to negotiate complex contracts and aggressively drive value into the supply chain
  • An expectation of 5+ years' or equivalent depth of experience with medium value ($50MM) and complex spend is required
  • Extensive experience in complex, global contract negotaiton
  • Demonstratable experience of Value Anaysls/Value Engineering processes.
