JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Sr. Buyer to join our growing team.

 

THE ROLE

 

The JELD-WEN Global Procurement group is a progressive, and important function within JELD-WEN and is currently seeking experienced, results-oriented candidates to be located at its VPI Quality Windows location in Spokane.Duties include but not limited to: Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, this position will manage the replenishment of key production materials in our central supply chain team which supports our Spokane and Statesville plants.

 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure all materials are available for forecasted and/or confirmed customer order fulfillment according to facility needs.
  • Develop, manage and provide raw material forecast to key stakeholders (category managers, buyers, vendors, et al.) utilizing historic demand SIOP (Sales, Inventory, Operations, Planning) forecasts, product line knowledge and ad hoc analysis.
  • Provide timely accurate analysis of raw material inventories, demands and requirements.
  • Develop raw material forecasts for plants/product lines and upload for use in ERP system.
  • Manage transition and timing of product offering changes (engineering changes, new product launches, obsoleting).
  • Conduct root cause analysis for missed forecasts for continuous forecast improvement.
  • Implement, maintain and improve material replenishment models, including visual, and/or MRP system for internal and external components.
  • Develop, optimize and integrate detailed supplier plans in a lean environment, to achieve the business goals.
  • Provide project management, leading/driving collaborations to effect continuous improvements to achieve division/department KPI’s and organizational  goals and business objectives.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to forecast and plan replenishment of multiple SKU production materials
  • Analysis of inventory stocking levels
  • PO generation and dispute management
  • Supplier issue resolution and escalation
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, remote counterparts and downstream internal customers, and functional leadership. Ability to discuss supplier relationships with Strategic Sourcing teams.
  • Ability to utilize basic statistics and mathematical formulas common in the Supply Chain and Logistics functions. Ability to create and adapt basic concepts and apply them to large data sets. Basic understanding of cost-benefit analysis and cash flow optimization with respect to inventory investment.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to translate individual performance goals to identify improvement opportunities.
  • This job is computer and phone based with regular visits to the production floor. General computer use skills required include but are not limited to;
    • Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Word
      • Intermediate Excel functionality required – PIVOT Tables, Vlookup, basic statistical formulas, etc.
    • Internet commerce tools (email, web-based fulfillment, EDI)Ability to extract and import data for analysis in Excel
    • Industry standard MRP (SAP, Oracle, Syteline, JD, etc.) experience preferred
    • Progress language-based MRP experience helpful, but not required

 

Education and Experience

  • Management of suppliers across multiple (20+) manufacturing sites
  • Two year Associates degree or Bachelor's degree (B.A., B.S.) from college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • APICS OR ISM Certification

Expected pay for this role is between $23.80 - $39.66 per hour and is based on experience and qualifications.
