Project Technician


BASIC FUNCTION: This is a non-supervisory position that is responsible for customer satisfaction in the management of project orders, beginning with quoting end through close out documents. 


  • Follow established safety rules and actively participate the company’s Accident Prevent Program.
  • Receive, edit, and input customer orders and quotations into the Cantor database.
  • Respond timely to emails and other customer related assignments in a professional and polite manner.
  • Understand the project process from the date a letter of intent or contract is received through final product delivery.
  • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Prepare a takeoff from a set of plans, read and understand the window specifications, install instructions and window/door details.
  • Navigate through a takeoff; i.e. re-pivoting, adding delivery sequences, sorting, looking up changes, making revisions.
  • Be able to understand technical window knowledge, read a window specification, a plan set, a takeoff, a submittal, etc.
  • Prepare submittals, understand and revise retuned submittals, and/or Architects Supplemental Instruction (ASI) or Request for Information (RFI).
  • Read and understand window test reports and cross sections.
  • Update the IS Workbook as needed following related processes (i.e. case folders, takeoff folder naming protocol, etc.)
  • Ensure that project folders are created timely for the assigned customers add all bid requests to the IS Workbook and network Bid Request folder.
  • Send out follow up emails to inquiring customers confirming receipt of their email as well as an estimated return date for the bid.
  • Create custom submittal packages based on the project specifications.
  • Relay all change orders to the Assistant Production Manager. 
  • Other administrative functions as needed.

This position is regularly scheduled for 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Occasional overtime is required, especially during peak business months.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with database software.
  • Minimum of three years’ current experience using Microsoft Office.
  • Up to 1 year of job-related experience or experience in the window manufacturing, construction or building materials industry preferred.
