  • VPI Quality Windows is a commercial division of JELD-WEN, Inc. that focuses on manufacturing windows and patio doors for multi-family construction with a particular focus on apartments, dormitories, senior living, and hotels.  

   

Job Overview  

  • The Receiving and Warehouse Group Lead plays a critical role in overseeing daily operations across Receiving, Inventory Control, Shipping, and Warehouse functions. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, this role is responsible for guiding warehouse staff, reviewing prior day performance, setting daily/weekly targets, and ensuring team readiness. 

  • This position emphasizes leadership, safety, accuracy, and productivity while driving team engagement and maintaining operational excellence through performance boards, shift pass downs, and adherence to schedules. 

  • Compensation starts at $29.23hr with benefits.

  • The Group Lead ensures smooth daily warehouse operations, fosters team collaboration, and supports problem-solving initiatives to achieve logistics and production goals. 

   

Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Actively support and participate in the company’s safety and health program. 

  • Lead daily start-up meetings to review warehouse performance, inbound/outbound schedules, and team targets. 

  • Oversee receiving operations, ensuring materials are checked, documented, and stored accurately. 

  • Maintain and update performance boards; document missed goals and corrective actions. 

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and OSHA guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. 

  • Arrive prior to shift start to gather information for daily planning. 

  • Complete shift-to-shift pass downs to ensure operational continuity. 

  • Monitor adherence to shipping/receiving schedules and escalate issues promptly to management. 

  • Track and sustain 5S activities and warehouse improvement initiatives. 

  • Ensure inbound shipments are processed within established timeframes. 

  • Oversee team compliance with break and lunch schedules; escalate excessive time away from workstations. 

  • Follow escalation protocols for delayed shipments or operational disruptions and Stock outs. 

  • End-of-shift responsibilities include: 

  • Verifying receiving logs, shipping documentation, and SW is complete. 

  • Assisting the Group Manager with daily reports 

  • Updating schedule attainment and performance boards 

  • Maintain and update the team’s cross-training matrix and JSA/SWIs 

  • Recognize and celebrate team achievements; share accomplishments with the Group Manager and recommend rewards. 

  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with all personnel. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management. 

 

Position Requirements 

 

  • This role requires consistent physical activity throughout the shift, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials weighing up to 50 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs with team assistance. 

  • Work may involve repetitive motions and working in a fast-paced warehouse environment. 

  • Employees must be able to stand and walk for up to 12 hours per day on hard surfaces. 

  • Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and climbing may be required to access materials and operate equipment. 

  • Ability to read and interpret shipping/receiving paperwork, labels, and inventory documentation. 

  • Ability to work in hot, humid, or cold environments depending on warehouse conditions. 

  • Proficiency in using warehouse tools and equipment, including pallet jacks, forklifts, scanners, and measuring devices. 

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times, and employees are expected to maintain a safe and clean work area. 

  • Overtime may be required, sometimes on short notice, to meet operational goals. 

  • Must meet daily receiving and shipping targets while maintaining quality standards for raw materials, inventory, and finished goods.

Required Skills and Experience  

  • High School diploma or GED required. 

  • Have and maintain valid Driver’s License 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in production, manufacturing, warehouse, or shipping, or equivalent combination of experience and education. 

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Lead, Supervisor, or equivalent leadership role. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve root causes systematically. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. 

  • Ability to maintain integrity, confidentiality, and a clear vision of business needs. 

  • Works well in a team environment with a diverse workforce.  

  • Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism.

Expected pay for this role is between $29.23 to $43.63  per hour and is based on experience and qualifications.
