JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Head of FP&A Northern Europe & Baltics to join our growing team.

Within Europe we have ~26 facilities across 1 countries, with 6000+ employees and revenue in excess of €1Bn. Role Summary and Purpose

First and outmost, this role will lead the development of a high-performing team of Business Partners / FP&A professionals in Northern Europe, shifting the balance of activities and focus from reporting to decision support at all levels.

 

 

You will bridge finance and business, leading the optimizing of financial outcomes for the Region (and Europe) through well-co-ordinated and informed recommendations, as well as ensuring consistent, timely and accurate understanding, reporting and analysis of business performance, including Key Performance Indicators and variance analysis.

You will lead the creation of accurate in-year financial forecasts for the Region, along with the development of robust Annual Budgets and Strategic Plans that are based on clear insights, analysis and contributions from all the functions within the Region.

 

Our Regional Finance Business Partner is a strategic enabler who plays a critical role in the success of JELD-WEN by applying financial expertise and insights to help shape business direction, inform key decisions, and drive profitable development of Northern Europe and the wider JW Europe Business.

This role is designed to go beyond traditional Financial Planning and Analysis, acting as a proactive, data-driven strategic partner to the General Manager and providing Northern Europe leadership team with the financial insights necessary for achieving strategic goals.

Critical Performance Objectives

  • Lead & practise effective Strategic Business Partnering across Northern Europe to improve financial performance of the region by acting as a sparring partner for the departments, functions and countries within Northern Europe and the Northern Europe Leadership Team, providing data-driven financial perspectives that support strategic and operational decision making.
  • Lead and develop a team of Finance Professionals, with good FP&A and Business Partnering skills and strong financial disciplines. A team that supports and challenge country leadership teams with sound independent business thinking, delivered in a collaborative manner to improve the performance of the business/function/department.
  • Lead the Delivery of Northern Europe Financial Performance vs. agreed objectives –through consistent, accurate and timely reporting and understanding of Northern Europe Financial Performance, via the team and using variance analysis and KPIs to draw out and highlight over- & under-performance with Northern European Leadership to enable corrective actions to be developed to ensure achievement of annual targets.  Targets would typically cover revenue, operating costs, SG&A expenditure, profit margins, capital expenditure, working capital and cash flow.
  • Lead Northern Europe Financial Planning: Lead the development and execution of the financial forecasting and business planning processes, utilising historic trends along with forward-looking insights to develop accurate financial plans whilst ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and the development of actionable plans to achieve them.
  • Lead the development of improvements in financial systems and business processes to reduce manual work, improve efficiency, focus on high value analysis and improve delivery of results.

  • Lead effective Strategic Business Partnering within FP&A team to actively support and challenge Northern Europe Leadership Team and Country Leadership Teams, ensuring appropriate Commercial Focus in decision making and driving understanding of the drivers of Operational Performance and variances with appropriate analysis.  Actively contribute to discussions on trade-offs, ensuring optimal business and financial decisions are being made for the benefit of Northern Europe and Europe.
  • Develop quality of Period/Quarterly Reporting for Northern Europe, using effective KPIs and variance analysis to highlight areas of positive and negative performance, whilst driving consistency of approach with JW Europe standards.
  • Lead the preparation of Annual Budget/Plan, on behalf of Northern Europe Leadership Team, co-ordinating input, targets, guidance and alignment across all key stakeholders, managing the process of Country & Region review and recommendation on deliverable outcomes.
  • Lead the preparation of Financial Business Forecasts, for Northern Europe, with input from key Regional stakeholders, utilising historic trend analysis and forward-looking insights, to present an appropriate achievable Europe forecast, which includes key mitigating or accelerating actions.
  • Develop and manage Risk & Opportunities process/log against current year targets, using input from Country TOM teams, ELT and Functional Leadership.
  • Lead the development of Profitability Reporting across the Northern Europe business, ensuring consistency of definition and approach and providing visibility of Customer & Product profitability, with an end to end view of margin.
  • Team Leadership & Development – lead and develop a strong FP&A team for the Region capable of being supportive and challenging Business Partners to all levels and functions within the Region, and providing high quality reporting, analytics and story-telling for their business area.
  • Lead the evaluation of Capital Projects across the Northern Europe business, to consistent standards, with appropriate financial support and review, whilst developing an appropriate post-implementation review process and ensuring benefits are captured within Budgets & Forecasts.
  • Support Special/Major Projects within Region with appropriate financial expertise and guidance to ensure recommendations are based on sound and supportable financial assumptions, with appropriate sensitivity analysis.
  • Lead the management and reporting of Trade Working Capital and Free Cash Flow for Northern Europe business, collaborating with functions accountable for managing each area.

 

Person Specification

Behavioural Competencies

  • Analytical: Provide proactive coordinated, databased recommendations to optimize business decisions and resource allocation across Northern Europe

 

Experience / Knowledge

  • A minimum of 5-7 Years relevant FP&A, Business Partnering or Strategic Finance experience with similar sized multi-site / multi-country organisations
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Evaluation, analysis and problem solving, preferably demonstrated in a manufacturing environment
  • Comprehensive Financial Expertise: Utilize a deep understanding of P&L management, risk management concepts, macro and microeconomic trends, and overall business frameworks to drive impactful financial recommendations.
  • Advanced financial modelling skills, using Excel and other tools
  • Experience of leading a geographically dispersed team
  • Experience of large, complex US GAAP matrix organisations an advantage

 

Education / Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
  • Associate member of ACMA/ACCA/ICAEW an advantage

 

Language Skills

  • Must be fluent in both written and spoken English
  • A second European language is advantageous, but not essential
