Are you an Internal Controls Specialist that loves to mitigate business risks?  Due to internal progression, we have a fantastic opportunity to join us as our Internal Control Specialist. 

 

This important role supports the Senior Internal Controls Manager, Europe in reviewing and appraising the soundness, effectiveness, and proper application of accounting and financial controls, compliance procedures and controls and timeliness of documentation generation within the European region of JELD-WEN. Providing the regional teams guidance, sharing expertise accordingly, to ensure continuous improvement and ongoing compliance with SOX legislation.

This is a remote/hybrid opportunity with occasional travel to site - roughly 15%. What your impact will be:

 

  • Support the Annual Internal Business Control testing and compliance cycle, working with Business and Internal Audit to ensure compliance with timetables, escalating issues or roadblocks in a timely manner to allow JELD-WEN Europe to maintain evidence of good business control environment
  • Review Business Controls to identify and suggest improvements or simplifications, to ensure controls are appropriate and relevant for the business
  • Support development of new or updated Internal Business Controls as JELD-WEN Europe evolves and when any new systems or processes are implemented, working closely with business project teams to suggest appropriate controls
  • Work with Countries/Functions to identify and implement remediation plans
  • Educate and coach internal business and operational personnel in JELD-WEN Europe on roles and responsibilities as related to internal controls.  

 

What you'll need to succeed:

 

  • 2 Years experience in Accounting / Internal Controls with similar sized multi-site / multi-country organisations
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley (training can be provided, however an eagerness to develop SOX skills is essential)
  • Full understanding and experience of documenting processes and controls and assessing financial risks
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and a thorough understanding of financial statements
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to communicate technical matters in an easy-to-understand manner
  • Ability to work independently, as well as within/across diverse multi-country teams, in finance and with the broader business.
