SITE SERVICE ASSISTANT

 

JELD-WEN, one of the world’s largest door and window manufacturers, is seeking an individual for the position of SITE SERVICE ASSISTANT. This position requires 25% travel and some overnight travel, while responding to service repair calls and providing “World Class” service to our customers in residential homes and non-residential buildings.

 

As a Site Service Assistant, you will participate in a 9-month long paid Apprentice Certification Program. You will be working with a skilled Field Service Tech while being trained and monitored on your progress in the field. The program includes training in safety, service expectations, report writing, window identification and terminology, service techniques and customer care policy. Upon successful completion of the program, the Apprentice may be eligible for a full-time Field Service Technician position; must have flexibility to relocate if needed.

 

JELD-WEN offers on the job training and professional certifications in the fenestration industry such as, AAMA and OSHA. You will also receive company provided tools, cell phone and tablet. All meals and travel expenses are company paid when traveling overnight.

 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Report and take direction form your assigned primary Tech and Region Coordinator.
  • The ability to learn how to perform service work on various products, and to accurately inspect JELD-WEN window and door products to find root cause of service issue.
  • Complete daily assigned warranty field service tasks while taking quality photos and producing accurate and complete reporting of product and construction issues.
  • Maintain tools and service vehicle in proper and safe working order.
  • Operate company service vehicle in a safe and considerate manner.
  • Become familiar with all JELD-WEN products in your coverage region.
  • Follow JELD-WEN policies and procedures while operating safely, professionally and efficiently.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Weekly travel with some overnights and over-time is a requirement with this position, along with flexible working hours. Have the ability for relocation at end of Apprentice Program.
  • High School Diploma or HSED.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license as well as a clean driving record.
  • Prior experience in a Field Service Tech role, preferably within the carpentry or construction field, with maintenance and repair experience.
  • Must have carpentry skills, be able to use hand and power tools and measuring devices.
  • The ability to lift 50-75 lbs., climb, lift, pull; and safety perform tasks on a ladder, scaffolding, or other raised devices.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure accurately and the ability to add, multiply, divide and subtract.
  • Strong customer service skills, excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Be dependable, self-motivator, the ability to problem solve and contribute to building a positive team environment.
