Job Summary:

  • The Group Manager is responsible for communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures for their area.

 

Essential Functions

  • Partner with Production Manager and Plant Manager to determine daily and weekly required production goals for area.
  • Review equipment needs/repair requirements and make recommendations for replacement or upgrades.
  • Assist with efficient warehouse organization, equipment usage and space utilization.
  • Assess daily workload and utilize employees for maximum optimization.
  • Oversee employee training, job performance and evaluation.
  • Ensure assembly procedures are followed, with finished items properly packaged and staged.
  • Assist with employment or disciplinary process.
  • Model and hold employees accountable for all safety and SQDCI processes
  • Monitors and enforces quality standards
  • Work with direct report team to keep production area clean and organized.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has supervisory responsibilities over the non-exempt warehouse staff in the Group Manager’s assigned area.

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a combination of a professional office environment and manufacturing setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers/scanners. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position is moderately active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. 

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, start time of 5:00 AM, approximately 50 hours per week.

Travel

Travel is not a requirement of this position.

Required Education and Experience
5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing or assembly facility

3+ years’ experience supervising teams of 5 to 20 people

Good written and oral communication skills

Ability to work and make decisions under pressure and with compassion

Computer literacy

Preferred Education and Experience
Previous experience supervising both Union and non-union employees

Familiarity with construction, millwork, lumber, and/or door manufacturing industries

Proficiency in Microsoft suite; experience in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
