Are you an experienced Plant or Factory Manager? Or perhaps you are a Senior Operations Manager or Head of Operations looking to make a move into a Plant Manager role?


We are looking for a Plant Manager for our manufacturing site based in Sheffield  who will direct all aspects of production activity to ensure that the desired quantities and quality of products are manufactured on schedule in a safe manner at minimum cost. 


Key Responsibilities:


  • Povide timely production operational activities in line with key objective set supporting the plant management team and the Operations Director to deliver the business strategy.
  • Work with other functional leadership within the business to ensure Operations are aligned to strategic objectives and that capacity is proactively planned and managed.
  • Achieve volume ‘batch compliance’ resulting in exceptional OTIF performance.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to meet organisation requirements including detailed production scheduling and tracking.
  • ‘Own’ the numbers for the plant and have a detailed understanding and plan for cost management and to delivering on EBIT commitments. Involvement in detailed budgeting and forecasting activities utilising financial managers and tools to ensure reliability in our reporting.
  • Focus on achieving cost reductions and increased profitability through the ethos of driving continuous improvement across all areas of responsibility.
  • Develop and challenge the production team to embed the lean tools, techniques and leadership behaviours – be an ambassador for the continuous improvement programme.
  • Lead the value stream 5s campaigns and demonstrate 5s expansion as part of daily cadence


Experience/ Background:


  • 5Plant leadership experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of interpreting and applying understanding of key financial indicators to make better business decisions. 
  • Experience of a ‘Safety First’ culture with a zero tolerance and continuous safety improvement mentality or equivalent.
  • Previous experience of a ‘Quality’ management systems and culture.
  • Previous experience of working in a medium to large manufacturing environment or equivalent is desirable, however not essential.
  • Previous experience of leading a team.
  • Experience working within a disciplined and system-controlled environment.
  • Mentoring and promoting improvement through Lean techniques such as value stream mapping, 5s, standard work cellular flow, mistake proofing, total productive maintenance.
  • Experience of working with a SQDCIP (or equivalent) production management system is desirable, however not essential.
  • Previous experience of working in a Trade Union environment.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio required.  Understanding of multiple manufacturing ERP systems including SAP advantageous.
