There will be an initial training period for this role which will last 6 weeks and will be Monday – Friday.

 

YOUR ROLE

 

This role is for weekend shift - 24 hours per week, 12 hours per day.

 

Ensure the safety of yourself and others around you.

You will be required to achieve safety, quality and productivity standards in each area you are trained and competent to work within. You are required to train other operatives in areas for which you are deemed competent and be part of a “buddy system” for other operators or those being trained in your areas of expertise.

 

You will achieve a range of skills appropriate for your role and be cross-functional across the plant by having the ability to work in multiple areas. You are deemed multi-skilled because you have the training and experience to be deemed competent across sufficient skills that you have achieved the minimum competency score needed to qualify. It is necessary that you maintain and refresh these skills on a regular basis in order to retain your grade.

 

You will exhibit role model behaviours in line with the JELD-WEN values.

You will have a “win the hour, win the day” mentality and support your Group Manager and Lead Operatives as needed.

You will adhere to all works rules, policies and standards. Communicating openly, promptly and professionally at all times.

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • You will contribute to safety audits and SIO generation (Safety Improvement Opportunities), creating a culture of ‘safety first.’
  • Ensure full compliance of Health and Safety procedures including SOP adherence, PPE and Workwear and incident investigations.
  • You will report any safety issues promptly, reinforce policies to others where needed and reminding them of their right to stop work and the Jeld Wen lifesaving rules.
  • Responsible for process control and end of line quality in your areas of work
  • Sustain good housekeeping standards and ensure compliance to production schedules
  • Actively participate in capturing and closing out 3C SQDCIP actions.
  • To follow standard work help to deliver SQDCIP targets.
  • Assist with shift handover and on occasion support/cover the Lead Operatives in their absence
  • Work collaboratively within and across teams
  • Be available for training and development opportunities

 

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

  • Previous experience of a ‘SAFETY FIRST’ culture
  • Previous experience of a ‘Quality culture of ‘RIGHT FIRST TIME’
  • Previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience of working flexibly, conducting basic problem solving or training others
  • Experience of working with a SQDCIP (or equivalent) production management system is desirable
  • Good computer skills required and experience of basic business software
