We’re looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Sheffield to set the standards for engineering operational activities across the site.

 

You will set the standards for Engineering, and operational activities. Role model behaviours in line with the JELD-WEN standard of acceptance and in accordance with JELD-WEN values and expectations.

 

You’ll drive Engineering activities towards world-class performance; make continuous improvement standard practice. Educate, develop and inspire team members towards betterment and achievement.

 

Provide support to the site teams to ensure compliance with company legislative requirements. You will have a “win the hour, win the day” mentality and support your Group Manager as needed.

You will adhere to all works rules, policies and standards. Communicating openly, promptly and professionally at all times.

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You will contribute to safety audits and SIO generation (Safety Improvement Opportunities), creating a culture of ‘safety first.’
  • Ensure full compliance of Health and Safety procedures including SOP adherence, PPE and Workwear and incident investigations.
  • You will report any safety issues promptly, reinforce policies to others where needed and reminding them of their right to stop work and the Jeld Wen lifesaving rules.
  • Receive and issue permits to work and ensure that engineering work is carried out to Health & Safety, Environment and Engineering standards.
  • Ensure that Maintenance systems are fully utilised to optimise performance.
  • Support with the training and coaching of apprentices.
  • Implementation of Risk Assessments and support of HASSARD assessments.
  • Responsible for process control and end of line quality in your areas of work
  • Sustain good housekeeping standards and ensure compliance to production schedules
  • Actively participate in capturing and closing out 3C SQDCIP actions.
  • To follow standard work help to deliver SQDCIP targets.
  • Assist with shift handover and on occasion support/cover the Group Manager in their absence
  • Work collaboratively within and across teams
  • Be available for training and development opportunities

 

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

  • Previous experience of a ‘SAFETY FIRST’ culture
  • Previous experience of a ‘Quality culture of ‘RIGHT FIRST TIME’
  • Minimum of apprentice trained - HNC (or equivalent)
  • Previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience of working flexibly, conducting basic problem solving or training others
  • Experience of working with a SQDCIP (or equivalent) production management system is desirable
  • Good computer skills required and experience of basic business software

 

This position works on a three shift rotation basis (Mornings (6am-2pm), Afternoons (2pm-10pm) and Nights (10pm-6am) or a Weekend Shift of Saturday & Sunday 6am-6pm) and candidates must be willing and able to commit to any of the shift patterns operated on site.
