About the role


  • To drive Engineering activities towards world-class performance; to ensure the safety of yourself and others around; you will make continuous improvement standard practice.
  • To educate, develop and inspire team members towards betterment and achievement.


  • To provide support to the site teams to ensure compliance with company legislative requirements.


  • Shifts operate on a continental pattern of day shifts & night shifts (Day shift: 6 am – 6 pm & night shift: 6 pm – 6 am).


Key responsibilities:

  • To work on the facility of the building with our production assets & computer basis (maintaining & improving the performance of our assets & assessing their reliability).
  • To contribute to safety audits and SIO generation (Safety Improvement Opportunities), creating a culture of ‘safety first.’
  • To ensure full compliance of Health and Safety procedures including SOP adherence, PPE and Workwear and incident investigations.
  • To report any safety issues promptly, reinforce policies to others where needed and reminding them of their right to stop work and the Jeld Wen lifesaving rules.
  • To receive and issue permits to work and ensure that engineering work is carried out to Health & Safety, Environment and Engineering standards.
  • To ensure that Maintenance systems are fully utilised to optimise performance.
  • To support with the training and coaching of apprentices.
  • To implement Risk Assessments.
  • To be responsible for process control and end of line quality in your areas of work
  • To sustain good housekeeping standards and ensure compliance to production schedules
  • To actively participate in capturing and closing out 3C SQDCIP actions.
  • To follow standard work help to deliver SQDCIP targets.
  • To work collaboratively within and across teams
  • To be available for training and development opportunities

Knowledge and Experience


  • Apprentice trained – HNC / HND (or equivalent)
  • Good knowledge of PPM and continuous improvement systems
  • Previous experience of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Experience of working with a SQDCIP (or equivalent) production management system is desirable
  • Basic knowledge of Word & Excel
