About the role

 

  • To ensure the safety of yourself and others around you, you will set the standards for Engineering and operational activities.

  • To provide support to the site teams to ensure compliance with company legislative requirements.

 

  • To support your Group Manager as needed, with a “win the hour, win the day” mentality.

 

  • To communicate openly, promptly and professionally at all times

 

  • Shifts operate on either a 3-shift rotation pattern of Mornings (6am-2pm), Afternoons (2pm-10pm) and Nights (10pm-6am) or a Weekend Shift of Saturday & Sunday 6am-6pm.

  • To contribute to safety audits and SIO generation (Safety Improvement Opportunities), creating a culture of ‘safety first.’
  • To ensure full compliance of Health and Safety procedures including SOP adherence, PPE and Workwear and incident investigations.
  • To report any safety issues promptly, reinforce policies to others where needed and reminding them of their right to stop work and the Jeld Wen lifesaving rules.
  • To receive and issue permits to work and ensure that engineering work is carried out to Health & Safety, Environment and Engineering standards.
  • To ensure that Maintenance systems are fully utilised to optimise performance.
  • To support with the training and coaching of apprentices.
  • To implement Risk Assessments.
  • To be responsible for process control and end of line quality in your areas of work
  • To sustain good housekeeping standards and ensure compliance to production schedules
  • To actively participate in capturing and closing out 3C SQDCIP actions.
  • To follow standard work help to deliver SQDCIP targets.
  • To work collaboratively within and across teams
  • To be available for training and development opportunities

Knowledge and Experience

 

  • Minimum of apprentice trained – HNC (or equivalent)
  • Good knowledge of PPM and continuous improvement systems
  • Previous experience of a ‘SAFETY FIRST’ culture
  • Previous experience of a ‘Quality culture of ‘RIGHT FIRST TIME’
  • Previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience of working flexibly, conducting basic problem solving or training others
  • Experience of working with a SQDCIP (or equivalent) production management system is desirable
  • Good computer skills required and experience of basic business software
