Controls and Automation Engineer

Your role

In this pivotal role as Controls and Automation Engineer, you be our site technical expert on PLC, maintaining site electrical standards, ensuring compliance with electrical regulation and driving our overall production and machine operational efficiency. You will be a key member of the engineering team and one of the key leaders in the department’s reliability to future proof the business strategy.  We can offer a competitive salary, 7.5% pension, excellent benefits, including medicash, electrical car salary sacrifice scheme, 25 days holidays holiday. The hours for this role are 7.30am – 4pm Monday to Thursday, and 7.30 to 1.00pm on a Friday.   

What impact you will make: 

• Site technical expert and responsible for the overall upkeep of PLC and driving continuous improvement initiatives
• Support, train and mentoring of team members
• Contribute to overall production and machine operational efficiency
• Identify obsolete or systems at risk and propose upgrade plan to a standardised system
• Ensuring the site is compliant, by collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure site always meets standards
• Maintain control systems on site and keep site current to a consistent system
• Project Work – C.I & CAPEX

What you will need to succeed: 

• Strong experience and understanding of PLC
• Recognised trade apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualifications
• PLC experience – preferably Siemens S7, Omron, Allen Bradley
• Experience of working with the pressures associated within a time critical manufacturing and project-based environment
• Understanding of SCADA
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft applications
