JELD-WEN is currently seeking a VP, GM Distribution to join our growing team.

 

THE ROLE

 

The Vice President/General Manager - Distribution position will be responsible for the overall leadership and financial results of the business including company revenue, margin, and working capital goals. Responsibilities will also include defining and deploying the strategic vision for the Distribution business, and the direct and indirect management of operations, finance, marketing, sales, sales support, R&D, to ensure continuity in product offering in conjunction with company goals and objectives, and corporate Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s). The VP & GM is responsible for managing the existing products, new product development, product line growth, and the day-to-day management of initiatives and features within the product lines that are manufactured at the eleven manufacturing facilities within the United States. The business generates approximately $0.5B in revenue and will report directly to the SVP & GM, North America.
 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for full P&L of business, including both short-term and long-term financial results and strategy
  • Lead key operational and commercial initiatives that drive long-term growth and profitability for the company with Capex responsibility
  • Recruit and develop talent of direct report team and within entire Distribution function
  • Develop short-term yearly strategies and budget and monitor performance against expectations
  • Define mid and long-term strategies to lead execution of above market profitable sales growth
  • Ensure the business unit meets and/or exceeds expected quarterly financial returns
  • Ensure we lead with integrity and ensure compliance with SOX, federal and local environmental regulations
  • Collaborate with peers across North America to drive overall segment results
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed
  • Manage the entire Distribution product catalogue life cycle and become a subject matter expert in areas of ownership.
  • Plan, lead, and actively manage the process of introducing new products to the market while developing marketing strategies for profitably gaining market share.
  • Develop requirements for new products and changes for existing products based upon industry and market analysis, and coordinate same with operations.
  • Collaborate in a cross functional matrix environment with engineering, R&D, operations, quality, and marketing communications to implement new product designs and features in a timely manner. Collaborate with Continuous Improvement (JEM) teams on PSQDCI, and lean methodologies.
  • Establish cost targets and participate in product pricing and sales forecasting.
  • Recognize new business opportunities and lead efforts to justify new investments.
  • Work closely with product sales on strategy and implementation, and market and drive the JELD-WEN product to customers and vendors alike.
  • Provide business development support and technical expertise to Sales team.
  • Conduct periodic competitive/market analysis and stay current with relevant technical changes in the industry. Perform competitive research to determine new market opportunities and adaptable positioning strategies.
  • Work with the marketing team to develop marketing collateral materials.
  • Interface with manufacturing personnel, R&D, Engineering, operations, including Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement personnel on product integrity, sustainability, and efficiency.
  • Establish, monitor and report on key performance metrics to the organization and appropriate senior management on the assigned product line and individual product performance throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Comply with all JELD-WEN corporate guidelines on marketing and business ethics, in accordance with Company Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
  • Advance JELD-WEN’s Mission Statement, and corporate goals and objectives.
  • Conduct performance evaluations on staff annually, bi-annually or as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior management.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Demonstrated product management and product marketing experience required.
  • The ability to support and collaborate with a national sales organization/team.
  • Technical understanding of product applications, safety and governmental rules, regulations and requirements needed for this position.
  • Basic understanding of JELD-WEN’s Mission Statement, Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement methodologies (i.e., JEM, LEAN, JIT, PSQDCI, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thought processes to develop, recommend and implement strategies and programs that address marketing strategies that drive JELD-WEN corporate goals and objectives, and KPI’s.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills up and down the organizational hierarchy to include cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in financial and statistical analysis and budgeting.
  • Knowledge of quality control systems and standards, to include CI objectives.
  • Knowledge of plant health and safety standards, regulations and compliance.
  • Strong financial management, budgeting and technical capacity skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to collaborate with plant personnel and cross functional teams in conjunction with corporate guidelines, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under conditions of multiple deadlines and changing priorities, and to interface professionally with outside suppliers.
  • Strong analytical skills and overall keen business acumen, working with a high degree of integrity in support of JELD-WEN’s Mission Statement.
  • Travel: ~50%

 

Education and Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Marketing, Business, Management or a related field and ten (10) to fifteen (15) years relevant experience in product management required, preferably in the window and door industry.
  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Experience working with and developing a distribution channel; developing programs and building long-term relationships.
  • Experience developing and deploying strategic initiatives to profitably expand and grow a business.
