JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Production Specialist Table Captain - Prefit Department to join our growing team.
American Building Supply (ABS), a subsidiary of Jeld Wen, and one of the Nation’s largest wholesale suppliers of Doors, Door Hardware, Windows, and Millwork, currently has a position available for a Production Specialist – Table Captain to assist our Distribution division in providing value-added goods and services to our customers.

Depending on assignment, our team members may do any of the following duties:
Table captains are expected to keep their area and teams safe and productive. Frequently, that requires that they go beyond their daily cadence to ensure the effectiveness of the team and the health of the business.
Essential functions:
- Begin work 15 minutes prior to shift with the expectation to have the line ready for production by shift start up. This includes:
- Glue on the spreader
- Material is staged for the first two loads
- Glue check is complete and set to specification
- Responsible to fill out production reports and scrap reports, accurately and turn them in at the end of shift.
- Report any deficiencies that could affect equipment, safety, quality and productivity, to group manager and/or group lead.
- Ensure hour by hour boards are kept up. That includes the quantities built and the reasons for target misses.
- Ensure all team members are leaving for and returning from breaks and lunch on time. Report if a team member is late and how late they were to the group manager and/or group lead immediately.
- If a team member must leave their station for any reason the table captain should know why and ensure that there is coverage for that associate before they leave the table.
- Responsible for ensuring that material for the next three loads is available for assembly, throughout the day. This will be accomplished by communicating any items needed to either cart stocker, group lead and group manager.
- Responsible for communicating with the pressman to verify there is a press available prior to assembling each load.
- At the end of the shift make sure the table is set up for the next shift by making sure the line is clean and ready to function. The material for the first two loads will be staged and ready to build.
- At the end of the shift the table captain ensures all aspects of the TPM are completed. The table and spreader should be maintained to maintain cleanliness and functionality. Any issues with the table or spreader relating to equipment failure or maintenance issues (TPM or PM) should be reported to group lead and group manager as soon as they can be notified.
- As a table captain you are responsible for your team’s conduct. Report any inappropriate conduct or unprofessional behavior to your group lead and group manager immediately. This includes horseplay, lack of productivity or motivation, poor attitude (including negative or derogatory comments), or any other conduct or behavior that may be deemed problematic or unprofessional.
- Use positive reinforcement to acknowledge good behavior and performance and celebrate wins. Communicate positive behavior and/or productivity accomplishments to group lead and group manager.
- At end of shift verify your production report matches the hour by hour board. If there are any discrepancies rectify them. Make sure you show your group lead and group manager any changes that need to be made.
- A table captain will ALWAYS conduct themselves professionally. Anger or frustration cannot be demonstrated in front of our team, hold composure on the plant floor. If there are any issues of frustration, sensitive in nature, or for any other reason that may cause disruption on the floor, ask your group manager to speak in a more private setting.
- Communication is key to success. Table captains are responsible to communicate with the other shift table captains. This includes problems, successes, issues, needs, etc. If there are issues that cannot be rectified through this communication, escalate to your group lead and group manager
- Conforms with safety regulations per plant policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of safety glasses, ear plugs, masks, steel toed boots/shoes, and associated safety equipment in order to be on the plant floor
- Reports unsafe conditions immediately to appropriate supervision
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
- Able to use and read tape measurement
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on professional business demeanor, communication and customer service.

Expected pay for this role is between $23.40 to $26.13 per hour and is based on experience and qualifications.
