Position Summary:
At JELD-WEN, we manufacture doors and windows that set the standard for quality and performance. As a Quality Technician, you will build on your inspection experience to take a more active role in driving product and process excellence. This role requires advanced problem-solving skills, strong product and process knowledge, and the ability to lead structured investigations using tools like A3 and 8D. You will also be responsible for executing and supporting Layered Process Audits (LPA) to ensure consistent adherence to standards across operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed inspections and audits of products and manufacturing processes.
- Lead and support structured problem-solving efforts using A3, 8D, Fishbone, and 5 Whys methodologies.
- Analyze quality data and trends to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
- Support the development and maintenance of quality control plans and standard operating procedures.
- Execute and document Layered Process Audits (LPA) to verify process compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Assist in training team members on quality standards, inspection techniques, and problem-solving tools.
- Participate in internal and external audits, including ISO and customer audits.
- Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, investigations, and improvement activities.
- Provide training and support to team members on quality procedures and QMS tools.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification in quality, manufacturing, or engineering preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in quality roles within a manufacturing environment, ideally in building products.
- Proficient in quality tools and methodologies (A3, 8D, Root Cause Analysis, Pareto, etc.).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and product specifications.
- Experience conducting LPAs and using audit results to drive improvement.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP and quality management systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the manufacturing facility for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting, carrying, and handling materials weighing up to 75 lbs.
- Perform detailed visual inspections with precision and accuracy.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment that may include exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions as needed.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
- Ability to respond quickly to quality issues on the production floor, including navigating stairs or uneven surfaces.

Expected pay for this role is between $23.51 to $39.18 per hour and is based on experience and qualifications.
