JELD-WEN is currently seeking an Regional Environmental Manager to join our growing team.
As a Regional Environmental Manager at JELD-WEN, you will be a key member of the EH&S team and will be responsible for assisting multiple JELD-WEN manufacturing sites with management of all environmental aspects and programs including implementing and managing the EH&S Management system, development of proactive/preventative compliance programs, and ensuring compliance with company global policies and standards and regulatory requirements. You will also act as a resource by providing technical expertise to multiple site personnel across the organizational hierarchy to promote a sustainable and preventative compliance culture. This position will also provide guidance on facility design, pollution control selection, expansion opportunities, and regulatory changes. You will report directly to the Director, EH&S, North America Operations.
Although this position is remote, the preferred candidate should reside in the Midwest region of the United States.
What You Will Do
- Managing multi-media environmental compliance programs (Air, Drinking Water, Stormwater, Wastewater, Waste, etc.) and permitting actions. Act as an interface between environmental regulatory agencies and JELD-WEN.
- Identifying potential non-compliant environmental conditions along with implementing corresponding solution options to address the potential non-compliance.
- Implementing and managing environmental management systems to address the regulatory requirements required of the JELD-WEN facility.
- Managing and facilitating timely submission of internal and external reporting and permitting deadlines for multiple sites.
- Training throughout the organizational hierarchy on environmental compliance requirements and the EH&S management system.
- Preparing and presenting accurate technical analysis of government regulations.
- Communicating environmental actions to internal and external contacts.
- Manipulating and assessing the accuracy of complex mathematical calculations.
- Performing inspections and evaluations of facilities, processes, and equipment.
- Conducting routine environmental assessments and audits.
- Developing standards and work practices to promote a proactive and preventative compliance program.
- Leading and implementing proactive actions to drive key performance indicators.
- Working and participating on cross-functional team projects.
- Assisting sites with preparing and responding to regulatory requests and/or enforcement actions.
Who You Are
- BS in engineering, science or related field from an accredited college or university.
- 7-10 years of environmental experience preferably in a global manufacturing organization with multi-site responsibilities and extensive experience managing technical air permits.
- Experience managing EH&S Management Systems, e.g., ISO 14001.
- Significant knowledge of EPA and multiple state or provincial level regulations.
- Managing technical air compliance programs (NESHAP programs, Title V permits, State Operating Permits) and pollution control equipment (RTOs, Baghouses, Biofiltration, Scrubbers).
- Experience using web-based systems to support EH&S, Benchmark/Gensuite, or similar.
- Strong communication, presentation, training and facilitation, project management skills are essential.
- Proficiency in LEAN and continuous improvement manufacturing principles.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Exemplary customer service skills and attention to detail.
- Advanced skills using the Microsoft suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Access databases.
- Strong analytical skills to analyze EH&S data.
- Up to 50% overnight travel required.
How You Stand Out
- Experience with conducting environmental assessments and audits of facilities, preparing environmental reports & submittals.
- Experience with environmental permit application development, calculating emissions, managing environmental data, tracking permit, and reporting due dates.
- Ability to provide regulatory guidance and negotiation, developing and providing tools to assist in maintaining compliance and training.

Expected pay for this role is between $95,000.00 to $158,300.00 per year and is based on experience and qualifications.
