Gathers the necessary materials, uses the appropriate hand tools, and operates applicable machinery and equipment  in the various plants to support the assembly floor and the finished product while achieving production goals, quotas and objectives; acts as Skilled Assembler and provides guidance to the Assembler I Entry Level Position(s) and  the Assembler II Mid Level position(s) and other personnel in the assembly operations of complex Multi units as directed by management to achieve the goals and objectives of JELD-WEN as written above; Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to appropriate plant personnel including, but not limited to, the Assembler I and II positions, direct supervisor, or inspection or quality control personnel; Works with quality control personnel and supervision for repair and/or disassembly of defective products; Labels finished products to match appropriate paperwork; Maintains the work area, tools, machinery and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and performs preventive maintenance on same. Follows prescribed safety regulations per plant policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of safety glasses, ear plugs, masks, steel toed boots/shoes,  and associated safety equipment in order to be on the plant floor and assemble the product, and perform the job duties in a safe and efficient/effective manner; Reports unsafe conditions to appropriate supervision; Performs other duties as assigned by management.


The physical demands described here are representative, but not all inclusive, of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally and/or frequently lift and/or move stock, materials and unfinished and finished production oriented materials in and near their work areas that weigh between 10 and 75 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and machines, vibrations and loud noises. All safety protocols including OSHA guidelines as mentioned above are mandatory.


High School Diploma or GED;  Previous assembly experience in a manufacturing environment required; A minimum of three (3) years of experience as an Assembler I and II at a JELD-WEN  facility or similar industry required; Certifications and/or classes in the appropriate field may be substituted in lieu of experience at the discretion of management; The ability to perform all the duties of the Assembler I and Assembler II positions as contained in their Position Descriptions;  Inspects or assists in the inspection of the quality of the Assembler I and II products as needed; Must be willing and able to train and assist the Assembler I and II positions as needed and as directed by management; Must possess the ability to assemble special product orders for JELD-WEN and  perform repetitive type  assembly functions using the appropriate tools, power tools, and  machinery and equipment  in the assembly of same; Must possess the ability to read a tape measure accurately, other instrumentation, schematics, architectural drawings and blueprints of considerable  difficulty to perform the assembly tasks; Must possess the ability to multiply, divide, add and subtract, use whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and other mathematical calculations as needed;  Must have the ability to read and comprehend basic and more advanced verbal and written instructions, correspondence and memos; Must have the ability to write basic correspondences, effectively present information in one-on-one settings or small group situations; Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists; Tends machines to perform force fitting or fastening operations on the assembly line; Must be willing to accept and receive frequent training as needed with regard to assembly operations; The ability and motivation to learn; work in a manufacturing and fast paced environment; Very energetic and enthusiastic; Reliable transportation, punctual and dependable; Responsible attitude; Team player; Results driven; Must be able to work overtime as needed; Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screen.
