JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Coordinating Group Manager-3rd Shift to join our growing team.

 

The Opportunity

As a Coordinating Group Manager, you will be responsible for directing manufacturing operations through a team of functional Group Managers that oversee and implement all production operations, shop activities and corporate Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s). You will also perform/act in the capacity of a Group Manager during an absence and/or void and may act as the liaison to the PM on behalf of their respective operational Group activities and responsibilities. You will report directly to the Production Manager.

 

This is an onsite role and is based in our Rantoul, IL.

 

What You Will Do

  • Under the direction of the PM, this position will oversee/assist the Group Managers in implementing the activities on the shop floor, following established procedures and processes, consistent with JELD-WELD’s Mission Statement.
  • This position will confer with plant management to retrieve and establish updated production and quality control standards in their assigned areas of operations to effectively manage and coordinate the scheduling and timing of production.
  • Position may act as a Liaison between plant management and the Group Managers providing feedback up and down the organizational hierarchy to include plans for current and future production requirements, from raw materials to finished product, all in accordance with JELD-WEN’s KPI’s.  
  • This position will work with and may directly supervise Group Managers in conjunction with all production and production support operations utilizing SQDCI, TPS, OTD and Continuous Improvement (CI) activities and initiatives. 
  • Proactively and regularly coordinates, develops and manages team member’s performance and capabilities, based upon corporate KPI’s.
  • Coordinates team activities, equipment, facilities, and ensures manufacturing operations are maintained in a manner consistent with plant production goals and objectives as established by the Plant Manager, Production Manager, and KPI’s. .
  • Assist the Plant Manager and Production Manager in establishing and monitoring overall plant performance for production and quality standards with CI teams. 
  • Assists in maintaining existing plant facilities and equipment; and/or makes recommendations and adjustments to plant facilities and equipment to the Maintenance Manager, Plant and Production Managers when necessary.
  • Provide leadership and training to Group Managers to accomplish plant production goals/objectives in accordance with JELD-WEN’s Mission Statement.
  • Assists Group Managers in implementing and maintaining preventative maintenance programs, maximizing equipment use.
  • Manages and works with the Group Managers in the implementation of safety awareness programs, communicates safety issues, corrects safety related problems, and assists in investigations into safety related issues.
  • Mentors Group Managers and fosters a learning and growth environment.
  • May assist in the Performance Evaluations of Group Managers as needed.
  • May perform other or specified duties as directed by the Plant Manager, Assistant Plant Manager, Production Manager, or other appropriate supervisory personnel.

 

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's or Associates Degree in a related field and three (3) to five (5) years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the window and door industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, to be determined by the Plant and/or Production Manager.
  • Some related college courses and seven (7) to ten (10) years of applicable work experience including one (1) to three (3) years as a Group Manager, or.
  • At least ten (10) years of progressively responsible work experience in the window and door industry, including two (2) to four (4) years as a Group Mgr.
  • Knowledge of raw materials and experience in production and manufacturing processes and techniques preferably in the door and window industry.
  • Sound knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing process improvement techniques including, but not limited to, SQDCI, OTD, TPS, and Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies and activities.
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, technical aptitude, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive manufacturing process improvement techniques throughout the production process in a skillful and deliberate manner. 
  • Strong team skills, including the ability to coach and develop work teams and provide appropriate training on CI methods and initiatives to subordinates. 
  • Strong knowledge of door and window production machinery and tools.
  • Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office and other position applicable software applications.
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day. May on occasion travel to appropriate seminars and training.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills up and down the organizational ladder to include rank and file, and plant management personnel.
