SUMMARY OF GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION: 

Under direct supervision, the Material Handler 1 Entry Level position(s) is responsible for  performing the physical tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing, and distribution of materials, parts, supplies, and equipment that assist in the manufacturing and assembly of JELD-WEN products including, but not limited to, Windows, Exterior Doors, Interior Doors, Patio Doors, and all other JELD-WEN related building products. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

This position unpacks and checks goods received against purchase orders and invoices; maintains records of received goods (rejecting unsatisfactory items where necessary) and shipped goods; Pulls and fills orders, lifts light and heavy items from receiving, shipping and other appropriate areas of the facility. This position will also move materials, including scrap materials and equipment within the facility to the various assembly, production and disposal areas using powered industrial equipment. This position may also assist in the assembly of the product itself; Labels finished products to match appropriate paperwork prior to shipment; Assists the Material Handler II and III positions and other personnel as directed by management to achieve the goals and objectives of JELD-WEN as written above. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations per plant policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines; This includes, but is not limited to, the use of safety glasses, ear plugs, masks, steel toed boots/shoes,  and associated safety equipment in order to be on the plant floor and assemble the product, and perform the job duties in a safe and efficient/effective manner; Reports unsafe conditions to appropriate supervision; Performs other duties as assigned by management. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

The physical demands described here are representative, but not all inclusive, of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally and/or frequently lift and/or move stock, materials and unfinished and finished production oriented materials from shipping and receiving, to be distributed and removed from the various work areas in the facility that weigh between 10 and in excess of 100 pounds.
