PAY RANGE: _MIN $27.58 - MAX $28.97 +$2.50 shift differential

REPORTS TO: William Stevens – Weekend shift

SUMMARY OF GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION:

Under direct supervision, the Shipping and Receiving position(s) is progressively responsible for performing the physical and mechanical tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing, and distribution of materials, parts, and supplies to meet customer delivery requirements and best utilize the JELD-WEN’s productive capacity, as well as assist in managing inventory levels at all JELD-WEN plants and facilities. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This position analyzes sales order releases with respect to capacity planning and material requirements. It is responsible for scheduling, moving and transporting materials and supplies within the plant for production purposes. Manages inventory levels to meet production schedules, and determines methods of storage and stock location, considering height and weight limits, turnover, floor loading capacities and required space. Works with purchasing and appropriate plant personnel to order floor stock. Reviews work in process on the production floor to insure adequate supplies. Receives and reviews sales orders against current requirements and work in process using a material requirement planning report. Releases purchase orders for production material, floor stock items and all purchases to support the production process. Interfaces with manufacturing personnel, the purchasing department and supervisors on material status and production planning and scheduling issues. This position will assist in ordering appropriate supplies and maintaining inventory in their area of expertise. This position uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.  Maintains their assigned work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Position may be located in and/or near the manufacturing portion of a facility, and thus follows prescribed safety regulations per plant policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of safety glasses, ear plugs, masks, steel toed boots/shoes,  and associated safety equipment in order to be on the plant floor and perform the job duties in a safe and efficient/effective manner; Reports unsafe conditions to appropriate supervision; Performs other duties as assigned by management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative, but not all inclusive, of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must have the ability to talk and hear, sit, stand, walk, use their hands and fingers, handle and feel, and reach with their hands and arms. Also required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally and/or frequently lift and/or move materials that weigh between 10 and in excess of 50 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and machines, vibrations and loud noises. All safety protocols including OSHA guidelines as mentioned above are mandatory.

KNOWLEDGE AND/OR ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

High School Diploma or GED; Associates Degree in Materials Management, Production Scheduling, or applicable field and (1) to two (2) years experience preferred. Some college and three (3) Five (5) years experience, or no college and seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in a JELD-WEN or comparable facility in Materials Support, Materials Management, or Production Scheduling may be substituted in lieu of an Associate’s Degree.    Must possess fundamentally sound and broad Math skills;  Must be able to maintain applicable record keeping systems; Must work with shipping and receiving, and material handlers and logistics personnel  when a product is ready to be moved into production or inventory, or delivered to its intended destination;  Must be able to work with all levels of the plant or assigned organization; Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and multi-tasking abilities;  Must have the ability to read and comprehend verbal and written instructions of increased difficulty; Must be computer literate and able to work with various file structures such as  Microsoft Office, PDF’s, and software that manages production data.  Must be willing to accept and receive frequent training and supervision and assistance from appropriate supervisory personnel; The ability and motivation to learn; Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, be punctual and dependable; The ability to work in a manufacturing and fast paced environment; Be a team player; Very energetic and enthusiastic; Responsible attitude; Results driven; Must recognize unsafe working conditions and take appropriate action on same to ensure the safety of themselves and others in the building and facility;  Must be able to work overtime as needed.
