JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Quality Control Technical to join our growing team.
QUALITY CONTROL LEAD ROLE
A Quality Control (QC) Lead is an hourly working leader. S/he will perform a variety of tasks ranging from clerical data entry to machine calibration and possible light fabrication thru conducting employee performance, Raw and Finished goods inspections & safety audits while working closely with all levels of the company. In addition, s/he will have related responsibilities in assisting the Project/Quality Manager in carrying out other duties as required.
Leadership – The QC Lead is responsible for being a leadership resource to other team leaders & managers, providing knowledge, motivation, support and advice, with the guidance and assistance of the QC/Project Manager. This Leader is responsible for learning Calibration and QC Tools and aiding in their implementation (such as; process control plan and job instructions creation, printing/lamination, TWI training, problem solving, machine and equipment calibration, etc.). The Lead will be responsible for learning and sharing special industry techniques on how to use tools and equipment, or tips on how to improve quality and/or speed up production. The QC Leader will encourage and support the participation and foster positive attitudes between other employees at all times.
Administrative – The QC Leader is expected to work closely with the QC/Project Manager and other managers to document, create and implement Process standards and Controls across the entire facility. The Lead may also work closely with or provide input regarding Operations, Safety, and Employee Relations. Leads can function anywhere on a task continuum ranging from data entry and clerical documentation to performing a full range of stronger tasks such as conducting Employee Performance & Safety Audits.

Education and Certifications:
- Associates degree (technical major preferred)
- Previous quality assurance experience.
- Quality Technician, Quality Assurance and/or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
- 2-3years manufacturing experience preferred.
Essential Skills and Responsibilities:
- Follow established company safety policy & procedure
- Demonstrate an intermediate skill level using MS Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Demonstrate basic understanding of mechanical principals and the desire to use Quality Control tools and concepts.
- Willingness to read suggested and/or provided literature and resources to advance your professional knowledge and abilities.
- Possess strong attention to detail, desire and ability to problem solve and complete root cause analysis.
- Must have good written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with Group managers and other co-workers.
- Be able and willing to work an occasional off-shift or split shift to provide additional project implementation support across all shifts.
- Be willing to work overtime as needed to meet project schedules.
- Perform Safety Evaluations/Audits, Material and Product inspections, Job instruction Audits and other audits as needed to help monitor and control behavior and process throughout the facility.
- Proven ability to accurately use a tape measure and desire to learn how to use other measuring devices
- Desire to learn how to calibrate multiple pieces of equipment throughout the plant
- Willingness to operate a table saw to aid in door forensics on a regular basis
- Have superb attendance
- Must have Positive Attitude and a strong desire to function as a positive team player.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area at all time
- Atten and participate in Quarterly quality training and project meetings during Inventory or as scheduled by the department manager.
- Enter raw material credits and work with vendors to improve and eliminate raw material defects.
- Wear PPE as required by the plant.
- Ability to follow and complete daily standard work and other duties as provided by manager.
- Other duties as requested.
Team Lead Responsibilities: Follow EHS Policy (commitment to work in a safe manner, reduce injury and illness rate, reduce waste, pollution prevention and compliance with law); Support employees in meeting Team goals; Support Group Manager to ensure the accomplishment of all Value Stream goals.
