SUMMARY: 
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator will coordinate the site environmental, health and safety initiatives. They will assist site leadership with establishing site specific policies and standards to ensure compliance with regulatory and JELD-WEN Global EH&S requirements, prevent injuries & illnesses, reduce workers’ compensation cost, and help create a strong EH&S culture.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes a culture of safety at assigned location by conducting and documenting required OSHA Trainings for New Hires, Equipment Training, and other applicable OSHA trainings.
  • Conducts and documents regular jobsite inspections, providing corrective action plans, as necessary.
  • Assists Managers in the implementation of safety policies, performing incident investigations and root cause analysis, as necessary.
  • Analyzes safety data and performs trend analysis; providing reports and safety metrics to the Safety Manager and recommending changes necessary to achieve established safety goals.
  • Assists in the development of safety policies, training programs, strategies, plans and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Required Education and Experience
  • A minimum of six years combined educational and work experience in the field of manufacturing
  • Knowledge of government regulations as they apply to OSHA, EPA, DOT, and Workers’ Compensation
  • Must have a proven ability to reduce and control OSHA recordable and non-recordable injuries
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent follow through
  • Ability to meet firm deadlines while working as a team as well as independently
  • Completes other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-2 years of environmental, health & safety experience in a manufacturing organization.
  • Strong communication, presentation, training and facilitation, project management skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in LEAN and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Process safety management experience desired.
  • Exemplary customer service skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze safety & health data.
  • OSHA 30 Hour for General Industry is preferred
  • OSHA 500 or 501 certification is preferred
  • First Aid/CPR Trainer Certified is preferred
