About the Opportunity


We are currently recruiting for a shift manager  to be based at Melton Stairs and reporting to the Group Co-Ordinating Value Stream Leader.


The key objective of this role is to manage the daily operational activity of the value stream. Ensuring a safe working environment that aligns it's self with Jeld-wen's core values as world class joinery manufacturer.





Please see some of the key tasks and responsibilities of this role- 



Key task and responsibilities include;


  • Safety management. A pro-active approach to safety improvement opportunities 
  • Ensuring hourly production targets are achieved and gaps to target actioned
  • Communicate departmental performance through an SQDCIP process. (Safety, quality, delivery, cost, inventory, people)
  • Management of team members performance and contributions, including appraisals, absenteeism, and disciplinary hearings
  • Maintaining schedule compliance to support site OTIF performance
  • Responsible for maintaining quality standards in accordance with ISO 9001 
  • Using lean manufacturing techniques to drive a continuous improvement culture. (OEE, value stream mapping, Kaizen, Kan-ban and DMAIC)
  • Maintaining a skills matrix and highlighting training opportunities for employee development
  • Ensure timely completion of 5S audits and implementing resulting improvement plans





Experience and Background Requirements


The successful candidate must have a ‘SAFETY FIRST’ mentality with experience working within a continuous improvement culture


  • Must have previous manufacturing experience.
  • Must have experience managing a team upwards of 20 employees
  • Experience working in a process driven environment and comfortable with measures and controls
  • Ability read KPI’s and promote change within their department
  • Experience of working within a medium to large size OEM company environment
