The role will be part of Continuous Improvement (JEM) Team for the Melton Operation under the stewardship of the CI Lead for Melton.

 

JEM (JELD-WEN Excellence Model) is the business system for continuous improvement within JELD-WEN. JEM incorporates our company values, lean tools, problem solving, business development and the constant improvement of employee knowledge & skills.

 

We are looking for someone with a background in lean manufacturing who can influence, inspire, and drive a grass roots cultural shift towards a lean manufacturing environment. You will have a strong shop floor presence ensuring you coach and mentor operatives whilst supporting the identification of improvement initiatives.

 

This role is perfect for a driven performer who has a proven background in continuous improvement and collaboration within a manufacturing environment. The role will require flexibility, energy, enthusiasm, and resilience.

 

You will help every member of staff understand what good looks like and drive autonomous delivery of plans . Continuous improvement will become standard practice and you will support the operation to achieve its JEM maturity goals.

 

The role will help to identify improvement opportunities by effectively deploying lean methodologies to deliver sustainable business operational improvements.

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pro-active safety approach by identifying safety improvement opportunities.
  • Put together a Kaizen plan for the year and lead the delivery of these events.
  • Manage the transition from product controls to process controls as part of our “Door 2 Quality” programme
  • Contribute to delivering a minimum of 3% year on year net productivity savings and 5% worth of validated productivity projects on a rolling 12-month basis.    
  • Contribute towards our JEM assessment goals and carry out assessments as required.
  • A key contributor in transforming Melton into a flagship example of lean transformation within Jeld-Wen globally
  • A key contributor to the Melton CI Team creating and developing training material, sharing knowledge, and leading standardisation.
  • Support Continuous Improvement through coaching and developing teams to deliver 5s campaigns to targets and demonstrate 5s expansion as part of daily cadence.
  • Support a positive transformation across the site through effective participation, enabling the team within and across all levels of the business to continually improve people’s capability, processes and procedures through sustainability.
  • Contribute to the site lean capabilities through effective training, mentoring, and coaching to build effective matrix teams and drive employee engagement, involvement, and deployment.      
  • Maintain exceptional housekeeping and organisational controls.
  • Manage and lead the sites QRQC process to deliver business improvement projects that support both product quality improvements and lean manufacturing.

 

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

  • Must have a ‘SAFETY FIRST’ culture with a zero tolerance and continuous safety improvement mentality.
  • Previous experience of a Continuous Improvement role within a Manufacturing environment delivering sustainable improvements through the deployment of LEAN tools, eight wastes, value stream mapping, flow, 5s, visual management, standard work, TPM, A3
  • Extensive experience of participating in daily Gemba and operating within a SQDCIP (or equivalent) production management system.
  • Proven track record of success in Leading or Managing change initiatives within organisations
  • Experience of working and leading teams within a medium to large size OEM company environment.
  • Experienced problem solver with proven ability to use quality tools to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions to problems
  • Experience of delivering lean training material, coaching and facilitation of the training across all levels of the site and organisation
