Position Title:  Product Engineer – Warranty Solutions

 

Job Purpose:  

As the Warranty Solutions Product Engineer you will be responsible for evaluating, resolving, and managing the resolution of design related warranty issues.  You will be the primary technical resource that is responsible for the interface between Product Engineering, customer service, and the Manufacturing teams to resolve warranty issues.  Will work closely with Product Line Managers, Vice Presidents, General Managers, Plant Managers, Product Engineers, Project Managers, and Manufacturing Managers to carry out a variety of project work.  This position will be responsible for leading problem-solving activities, guiding technical vision, driving requirements, estimating, scheduling, deploying field trials in production, communicating to stakeholders, and implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving processes to coordinate the execution of work.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • This is a mid-level position and requires little supervision. 
  • Review warranty issues, create pareto’s to identify areas of focus, identify business impacts, and work with Product teams to resolve design related issues. 
  • Work with product teams on product improvements that will reduce customer complaints and warranty issues.   
  • Report status of warranty projects to VP’s, PLM’s and GM’s, and ensure business alignment with projects being worked.   
  • Work with manufacturing to ensure product improvement changes are implemented.
  • Support field trials by building, testing, and troubleshooting product.
  • Apply engineering background to develop unique solutions to problems.
  • Perform failure analysis, root cause, and provide suggested counter measures.
  • Lead brainstorming groups.
  • Lead design reviews.
  • Lead Kaizen events.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Lead and coordinate testing, validation, and reliability analysis to minimize risk and achieve a high level of quality assurance.
  • Review drawings for design intent, suggest changes through redlines, and work with Product Engineering teams to incorporate changes. 
  • Maintain a sense of urgency/responsibility on a daily basis with all projects.
  • Review designs with PLM’s, plant personnel and Equipment Engineering.
  • Evaluate materials and make recommendations.
  • Keep abreast of trends in the industry, materials, and process technologies.

 

 

Preferred Position Requirements:

  • Education: BS in Engineering
  • Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc).
  • Proven experience working with outside suppliers, manufacturing, and procurement teams to resolve product issues.
  • Knowledge of cost of quality
  • Proven experience working with customers to evaluate and resolve issues.
  • Background in Quality Engineering preferred
  • Knowledge of packaging processes and materials.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving tools and experience leading teams through problem resolution.  Knowledge of A3 problem solving preferred.   
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic, self-starter requiring little supervision.
  • Proven track record for on time and complete.

 

Travel:

  • 10-25% travel is anticipated.
