Sr. Payroll Specialist

JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Sr. Payroll Specialist to join our growing team.

Summary

The Sr Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring payroll controls are followed and performing audits after each payroll run. This position also performs a variety of accounting duties as well as assisting in overseeing payroll procedures and ensuring compliance with compensation and tax regulations.

Responsibilities
 

• Review payroll simulations and reports to identify outliers and ensure reasonableness of all data
• Perform real-time root cause analysis on each issue in order to identify gaps in existing solutions and assist in developing new preventive solutions
• Balance and reconcile general ledger posting files each pay run. Research any discrepancies.
• Prepare journal entries as needed, such as for month-end reclassification of expenses
• Prepare monthly payroll account reconciliations
• Provide ad-hoc reports for finance, legal and others as needed
• Secondary point of contact for inquiries from Finance
• Communicate with staff and third parties to ensure necessary payroll related tasks are completed
• Provide documents for legal and audit requests as needed
• Report to management on payroll issues and changes
• Strong working knowledge of all systems used by Payroll. Training will be provided.
• Research and resolve employee inquiries
• Provide support and assistance to Payroll Specialists as needed

Qualifications
 

• Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Accounting or a related field or equivalent experience, and
• Minimum 2 years experience in performing payroll duties and quality assurance reviews and analysis
• CPP designation preferred but not required
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Attention to detail
• High level of confidentiality
