JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Prototype Lab Technician to join our growing team.
Job Purpose: The primary role of a prototype technician is to operator and understand the running of a 5 Axis CNC machine. Make accurate parts while learning the many different window and door profiles. You will have to interact with engineers and/or the lab manager to complete each job request received.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities, include the following:
Performs the following duties under the supervision of Managers or experienced Technicians:
- Operation of a 5 axis CNC machine.
- Ability to read measuring tools: Tape measure, calipers, depth gauge, gauge blocks and other measuring equipment.
- When not operating the CNC, you will assist in assembling window and door products.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Work Safely around large sized window and door products.
- Be able to safely operate overhead crane.
Position follows prescribed safety regulations per lab, plant and/or facility policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of safety glasses, ear plugs, masks, and other appropriate safety equipment as required in R&D and in manufacturing facilities. Performs all job duties in a safe and efficient/effective manner. Reports unsafe conditions to appropriate supervision.
- Must be able to complete timely evaluations and function in a dynamic environment, with the ability to multi-task.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required. Post-secondary education such as an Associates, bachelor’s degree, or Trade School is preferred. Technical certifications and/or a combination of education and work experience may be substituted in lieu of the degrees at the discretion of management.
- Must have the motivation, aptitude, ability, and interest to learn and develop new skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office is a plus.
- Experience working in a fast-paced lab, manufacturing, or maintenance environment.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50+/- lbs.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed and travel on occasion (<5%).
