Lab Technician - Entry Level

JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Lab Technician - Entry Level to join our growing team.

The Opportunity

The R&D Laboratory Technician is an entry level position responsible for technological assistance and support, including the responsibility to perform tests, collect data, and format the data for incorporation into test reports. The testing will encompass raw materials, semi-finished products, coatings, adhesives, and finished JELD-WEN products. This position will work under the guidance of Lab Managers and experienced Technicians to conduct relevant testing and maintenance.  This role reports to the Lab Manager

What You Will Do

• Assist with the expeditious completion of projects, with particular attention in utilizing proper test standards, laboratory protocols, and precision in data collection.
• Performs laboratory tests or other laboratory work using conventional and computerized instruments, machines, and other work aids.
• Set-ups, adjusts, assures calibration, and operates essential laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
• Performs and comprehends component tests as applicable for the position in the lab/facility.
• Records test results and observations.
• Format and report raw data and observations in a clear, concise, and presentable manner in spreadsheets or other electronic media.
• Maintains their assigned work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.

Who You Are

An entry level candidate with a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required. Post-secondary education such as an Associates, bachelor’s degree, or Trade School is preferred. Technical certifications and/or a combination of education and work experience may be substituted in lieu of the degrees at the discretion of management.

• Must have the motivation, aptitude, ability, and interest to learn and develop new skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Experience working in a fast-paced lab, manufacturing, or maintenance environment.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50+/- lbs.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed and travel on occasion (<5%).
