Summary: REMOTE: This position is responsible for direct oversight and management of JELD-WEN’s global claims program, including workers’ compensation, auto liability, property and general liability claims, with direct impact to Company financial statements.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Collaborate across departments to develop, promote, and maintain a robust return to work program
  • Manage relationship between third party administrator (TPA) and the domestic claims program, including conducting regular claim reviews and program health assessments and developing and executing continuous improvement opportunities indicated by trending claims data
  • Oversee and collaborate interdepartmentally to resolve international property and liability claims with our insurance broker and carrier partners
  • Provide leadership of the claims process to TPA and Operations to promote and ensure efficient, thorough claim investigations that result in claim resolutions that are in the best interests of all stakeholders
  • Ensure legal compliance of the claims process supported by the TPA
  • Actively collaborate with defense counsel, business units and TPA personnel in the continuous identification and evaluation of settlement opportunities;  approve requests for reserve increases and settlement authority in accordance with the needs of each claim, and communicate critical claim developments to the Director of Insurance & Property Protection and VP of Insurance and Risk Management
  • Monitor effectiveness of scheduled claims reviews with TPA, counsel and Operations to ensure strategic outcomes
  • Create and manage monthly claim payment forecasts for inclusion in departmental financial reporting, providing support to the Corporate Insurance Manager in quarterly accrual meetings with senior leadership
  • Manage Claims Assistant charged with claims activities (e.g. investigations, subrogation, scheduling, scanning documents and correspondence related to claims), providing coaching in goal setting, conducting performance tracking, evaluation, and salary increase proposals, and providing leadership in interactive disciplinary proceedings as necessary
  • Calculate and provide monthly accruals to Corporate Insurance Manager to ensure accuracy of financial statements and participate in monthly accrual calls with accounting
  • Assist in the annual budget development process

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional designation.
  • 5 + years of commercial claims management experience.
  • At least 2 years leadership position
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to organize, document and control physical and digital claim data
  • Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel proficiency.
