General Production

Summary: This position will focus efforts at Rip & Cut.   

Rip Line Sorter will stack loads from rip line chutes, cut back chute, and send out loads when full.  Cut Line Sorter works on the cut line stacking wood and banding loads as wood comes down the various slides. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.  

• Responsible for following JELD-WEN safety standards before starting any assigned task.  Ensure compliance with all proper PPE. 

• Ensure white boards are correct with correct lengths, widths, and stacking details. 

• Stack and sort boards at each bay and cut back chute according to posted guidelines at each bay. 

• Stack wood on a pallet as it comes down from the cut line. 

• Band loads of wood with banding material or tie off with twine.  Signal driver once load is full.  

• Ensure area is clean and clear of wood or debris on the ground.   

• Assist in other duties as requested by Managers. 

Qualifications and Experience: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.  

• Basic understanding of machinery and production operations.  

• Ability to operate machinery. 

• High level of accuracy and ability to identify defects. Strong attention to detail. 

• Good communication skills. 

• Ability to follow instructions and adapt to new tasks as needed. 

• Willingness to learn new tasks and procedures. 

• Ability to work and function as a team member with a wide variety of people. 

Physical Requirements: 

Walking and standing for up to 10-12 hours per day. Ability to frequently walk and stand. Ability to frequently push, pull, lift, and lower weight of up to 50 pounds. Ability to work on platforms while maintaining balance and coordination. Must be able to see, identify, and safely handle, manipulate, and position products, tools, and other material. Must have strong hand-eye coordination to safely handle, manipulate, and position products, tools, and other material. Requires the use of both fine motor skills (e.g., precise handling of materials).   

Attendance Requirements: Basic hours Day Shift Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30PM, Swing Shift 3:30PM-12:00AM, Graveyard Sunday 9:00PM-7:30AM Monday-Thursday 11:30PM-7:30AM. Position will require flexibility: weekend work, and inventory counts.
